FWIW, I started randomly talking football with a guy at a bar last night, and he was telling me that he knows several interns for the radio stations; he said one of their primary tasks is to monitor the public's and fan's reaction to the various radio shows because that affects the advertisers. I asked him if he knew anything about Francesa. This guy said he HATES Francesa (and the best part about it is that he's a diehard Broncos fan lol) because he spews nonsense. He said Francesa's ratings have taken a huge hit and he wouldn't be surprised if he's done soon. He also said the players have a choice of which radio shows they call into. Soory, I don't have a link to the conversation. And I don't know the guy, but he seemed honest.
What you don't have a stenographer with you at all times? Also, if Francessa is close to being "done" we will all know because 660 will make format changes to his show. So if the Mink Man gets more air time or Francessa gets another sidekick...they are trying to get ratings. THEN if that doesn't work 660 will make changes. That's how these things work. So as of right now, I wouldn't say his show is in jeopardy.
So it's basically confirmed (not that we needed any more confirmation) that Francesa is a joke who doesn't believe 95% of the bullshit he throws out there? He just tries to get the "Mario from Edgewater"s to call into his show. Sadly there are many retards in the NY/NJ area

I should have been clearer. The dude wasn't predicting that Francesa will be off the air "soon" as in the foreseeable future, but he was saying that the show has been in a decline and it wouldn't surprise him if, say, in a year or 2 from now, we'll begin to see the end. And that was just this dude's opinion. So, yeah, you're right.
Francesa's weekly schedule is simple during the football season Monday - recap of Sunday's football. Tuesday-Thursday(after Jet win) - baseball, hawse racing, anything but football Friday - first 2 hours of baseball and other stuff...then he has football guests If the Jets lose it's Monday-Friday with 90% discussing the Jets.
who will be replacing MF in the afternoon slot on WFAN? has to be someone who's relevant, interesting, and has good knowledge of all 4 sports
I'd think that maybe they'd think about Boomer & Carton. If not, then I'm not sure. Joe & Evan are candidates, but I don't think they are as you say, "relevant"
I know he worked for ESPN, but, just outta curiosity, whatever happened to Max Kellerman? I don't think I'd want him on WFAN because he's one of the biggest homers (Giants and Knicks) I've ever heard. He's not like Francesspool in that he bashes the Jets or other teams, but he slobbers waaay too much over his teams. Francesa won't be replaced anytime soon. But, for fun, I think Joe & Evan would be the last option. I doubt Boomer & Carton would move to that slot because I think, in general, there are less listeners during the midday versus people getting ready for/on their way to work in the morning. Hmm, I can't think of anyone within WFAN right now that would be a plausible host during that time slot.

I listened to Kellerman a lot. He had a very different take on things. He had a HUGE boxing background though and he's covering boxing on HBO now. Very interesting tidbit...his whole male side of the family are boxing trainers. One of their prize fighters, who was poor and had no where to go, went to live with the Kellermans while they trained him. That same prize fighter wound up killing Max's brother with a hammer. Pretty fucked up. Must be tough for Kellerman to continue a career in something he loves but is constantly reminded of horrible shit.
Holy shit, that's terrible. I listened to him a bunch too when he was on 1050 with Lundbergh. My favorite guy on that show was Louie the Call Screener -- he was young, zealous about the Jets and always so frustrated by the SOJs along with the routine rimjob Kellerman and Lundbergh gave the G-men.

With the Jets playing a huge game he has the governor of NY on for 5 hours to talk about trains and other b.s.? Then today he's at some bar, really? Like I really wanna listen to live music on a.m. radio. I really believe he's losing his touch a lot and the only thing to help salvage his show would be a good co-host.
Based on those numbers provided Francessa is doing well enough. He's only .1 behind HOT 97.1 and .2 away from Q104.3, both stations I presume to be very popular in the Metro area. The only other AM station in the list is 880 and it's #2 in the top 10. So 660 is #2 among AM stations in the Metro area with a 3.1 share for afternoon radio. I'm guessing that's how they are looking at it and the numbers, again based on the link above, look good enough to me. But then again, wtf do I know. I really think ESPN should groom LaGreca for his own shown. The guy's knowledge is tremendous and he makes sound arguments. LaGreca is my favorite NY sports radio guy. I also really like Ross Tucker on NFL radio in the morning.
