+1 Mickey was great. The book is probably an interesting read if you want to read about a hero being reduced to a raging alcoholic with a deathwish. But 4 hours seems to be a ludicrous amount of air time for fat boy to have devoted to this topic. It seems like he is struggling to get anybody interesting who wants to go on w/him unless they are humping a book. Pretty sad.
I thought the Mantle stuff was pretty compelling. I love old Yankees stuff, and Mickey Mantle stuff. I would have appreciated some more Jets though.
That would mean he would have to say something good about something he loathes. He is going to avoid saying how good this team is at any expense.
Lets just hope when the Yankee season is over, the Giants are not doing well. Then he will have nothing to talk about except the Mets GM search and bad Giant football. The whole Mantle thing, the worst radio I have ever heard, was setup for that day because the Jets played the night before and he would not be able to talk NFL or the Yanks. If the Jets were 1-3 going into the game, he would not have scheduled the Mantle author for hrs!!!
First 2 hours of Tanks show today is a continuation of yesterday. They discuss which pitchers should pitch what games and Francesa yells at every caller that disagrees with him. Francessa just talks about baseball because thats what he likes. He didnt start a talk show to talk about what he hates all the time. What he loves is the Yankees so obviously hes going to talk the most about them while they are in the playoffs. You guys read too much into his Jet hate.
Did anyone hear the show moday? Some grown man called in and was tweaking Mike. Telling him that Secretariat was the greatest movie he ever saw, that Mike was completely right about the horse, that he was crying at the end of it and that the horse should be up for an Academy Award nomination. Mike was eating it up.
I hear he is going to have the Fins' fired special teams coach on next week. Mike knows who the newsworthy guests are, no doubt.
