Yeah but we can't dwell on what if's. I don't wanna sound like Rich Cimini. Auburn on both sides of the ball were clearly much better then Alabama after the 1st quarter. It's funny because my viewpoint is if Auburn cheated they should be punished but that shouldn't take away from what a great player Newton is. Ineligible or not Newton deserves the Heisman. I'm still in shock with ease Auburn dominated that 2nd half of football. Power ratings or not they looked like the best team in college football. As for Danielson all he's doing is lobbying for his conference. CBS makes a lot of money from the SEC so of course he's going to act as if Boise doesn't stand a chance (Much like they felt Utah didn't) but it doesn't change the fact that it was a stupid comment. Maybe Auburn beats Boise by 30 but we may never know which is really the big shame in all of this. We can disagree about a lot but the real tragedy is that as good as Stanford and Wisconsin are playing even if 2 of the top 5 lose they still have no shot at a title and that's just shit.
If you're sleeping, wake the fuck up. Boise and Nevada are tied at 24 with about five minutes left in the game. The Wolfpack might pull off the upset.
Unbelievable game. BSU had a miracle Hail Mary (unbelievable diving catch) with 9 seconds left to get down to about the 10, then their kicker misses the field goal. Going to OT.
Brotzman is usually as clutch as a kicker can be. ...one of the best games I've seen in years. Hopefully overtime is just as good as regulation.
this is NUTS Really really wanted BSU to win, can't believe that missed kick at the end of regulation
^This. I have unjust hatred for certain teams, and Boise State is one of them. That blue field and everything about them just make me want to see them lose.
I don't like Nevada either, but seeing Boise's BCS hopes crushed by another WAC team was awesome. Once again...fuck them and their blue field.
Disbelief.... about the only word I can think of. This just in Colin Kapernick and Vai Tua are pretty good. Just think the Wolfpack were 6 points away from running the table (assuming they don't have a major let down in what will likely be their last game against LaTech). I've been watching those guys kill my team fro 4 years and I think the rest of the country may catch on. Now for you draft guys what are the prospects for Kapernick? The guy athletically is a freak and at 6'6 has some serious size but I wouldn't think he translates to a QB at the next level. Could he be a Brad Smith type?
Just a quick run down of the BCS Bowls at least initial projections A good consolation prize for TCU should Auburn and Oregon play for the title. They will be playing in the Rose Bowl. Thanks to Oregon playing for the title the Rose contractually has to take the Frogs (assuming they don't lose to New Mexico). When that happens they will join elite company as being one of the few teams to play in the Cotton, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta and Rose Bowl. Don't know how many teams have done that but pretty cool even if their only Orange Bowl was back in 1941. So we have National Title * Oregon vs Auburn Rose TCU vs Wisconsin Sugar Winner of LSU/Arkansas vs Ohio St Orange VaTech vs Big East Champ Fiesta Big 12 Champ vs Stanford Technically the Orange has 1st crack at Stanford over the Big East Champ but I don't see them taking the Cardinal. I'm sure IJR is cool with that. Us poor bastards who actually attend the Vegas Bowl are going to get shite thanks to the Pac 10's inability to have the right amount of eligible teams. We'll get Utah or BYU against probably the worst MAC team that doesn't have a bowl tie in which looks like either Temple or Toldeo. I'd rather get Temple.. at least they have Bill Cosby. One bright thing for the Boise fans .... at least they won't have to travel for their bowl game this year and it works out for Nevada to as they go to the Emerald Bowl which is only about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Reno.
Yeeaaahhh. The beast is dead. What a great day of college football. I should actually apologize to you Rich, after yesterday I realize that there is another very good team in the WAC. I guess what's bad for Boise St. is that they might have been a bit TOO good. 59-3 blowouts are great but it doesn't get a team ready for how to play in these tight games. Nevada just put themselves in a position to win, caught a big break, and pulled it out. Hopefully Chris Peterson and Kellen Moore get into a Fisher/Young streetfight and CP decides to jump to the Hurricanes, but that's another conversation entirely. As for Kaepernick, I think his position will be determined by workouts. He has really improved as a passer this season, but I'm not sure it's enough to make it as an NFL QB. Also, at 6'6 with some outstanding athleticism, he could be a pretty highly thought of receiver prospect if he runs well. The draft is going to be loaded at the position of the UCs declare, but he could be picked among the top 5-10 seniors (Rd 4/5) easily.
What's funny is that as crazy as I think you are you are 100% correct about Boise not being able to win a game like this. I knew Nevada was pretty good but up until this season their MO was to not show up in big games. They have played Boise very good over the years at home and Boise like Bama should have put the game away but the other team would not allow them to. People all over are saying Boise choked and while I think it's a plausable response I think Nevada should be given a lot of credit for not quitting and hanging tough in a game of this magnitude. Having lived in Nevada for 12 years I think it's safe to say this is the biggest college football win in the history of the state. Kapernick has very good speed, I'm not sure how he would pan out as a WR but Rd 4/5 is what I figured. He will be a project but I think he could develop into a servicable player with his combination of size and speed. He is a special college football player that I first saw 3 years ago in person but it's amazing that most of the country still has no idea who he is. I think he probably could play at a lot of big time schools but Nevada did quite well with him as their QB.
That was a bullshit call on a would-be Boom Herron 98 yard TD run for Ohio State. Dane Sanzenbacher blocked a DB for 70 yards, and they called a hold in the last seven yards when he pancaked him. Absolute nonsense, and the refs in this game are nothing short of miserable.
Unreal. After that first half for Alabama, to lose like that. Doesn't matter for Boise State, but it did for TCU.
