The new MWC members are better than the old ones anyway. Boise, Nevada, Fresno & possibly Hawaii are all joining the MWC while Utah and BYU are leaving so I wouldn't put much stock in this year's results since a bunch of these schools are in transition years.
I don't think the new moves make the conference better. I think Boise makes the loss of Utah ok but when we lost BYU as much as I hate them it hurt because of the LDS population they were a big money maker for the conference. Throw in they have been a pretty solid program since Bronco began coaching there. They've been a great team for the conference and I don't think adding Fresno, Hawaii and Reno make up for their loss.
Found this to be funny... 70 bowl slots and projected 66 teams with record of 6-6 or better meaning there will possibly be 4 teams at 5-7 playing a bowl game this year. As of now the Sun Belt has 0 teams that are eligible but that will change if FIU or Troy can each win 1 more game or if MTSU wins 2 games. FIU plays 3rd place Arkansas St and 4th place Mid Tenn St. They have 2 slots as well as a possible 3rd depending on the Big 10. The Big East has 6 slots but only 5 teams eligible but Louisville will get to 6-6 if they beat Rutgers who has to win it's last 2 games Louisville and West Virginia. The 3rd team Cinci has a tough road as they play @Uconn and host Pitt. The Big 10 may get two teams into a BCS game which would open the slot in the Little Caeser's Bowl which would go to a 3rd Sun Belt team who is unlikely to be eligible. This is comical. The Pac 10 may not have enough teams to fill their slots. Oregon St has 5 wins but need to beat either Stanford or Oregon to get to 6 wins. Washington needs to beat both Cal and Wazzou to get there. Cal needs to win it's last game against Washington. UCLA needs to beat both Arizona St and USC. There is a really funny worst case scenario for the Pac 10. Hypothetically Oregon wins out as does Stanford. Both teams play in a BCS game leaving them with one less slot. That would also eliminate Oregon St. If Washington beats Cal but losses to Wazzou that leaves both of those teams under 6 wins and then UCLA losses one of it's next two then they are under 6 wins. My guess is out of the 4 Cal will be the only team that gets to 6 wins because I think they'll win at home over Washington. That would give them 4 teams Bowl Eligible with 6 slots but would leave 3 of them unfilled because of the two BCS spots. Amazing... yet lets add more Bowl Games.
I get your point that Rich is delusional in that an non-BCS conference is better than a BCS conference by using results in 2010. I just find that stupid since these conference are shuffling teams which doesn't help your argument much. Also using the bottom rung team argument is kind of weak too since each conference have weak-ass teams. Is there a huge gap between Wyoming, Vanderbilt, & WSU in 2010, not really. Not sure why using basketball in comparing conferences in a no-no other that it actually hurts your argument so you're just trying to dismiss it as nonsense especially when it uses the what have you done lately argument that you was just using. Rich, BYU might be a big loss but that team has been looking to split for a while especially when you look at it that the school's soccer team is playing in the USL rather than in the NCAA and they're joining the religious conference(WCC). It's safe to say that the MWC is much better off than the WAC in 2012 and beyond.
I hate them but I don't like losing them. I actually like the new blood in the league but I have this really big fear that TCU is going to the Big East and we won't have the firepower to get back to the level we are at now. Imagine how good a conference with Boise, TCU, Fresno, Utah and BYU is? Throw Nevada who has built a decent program with very limited means and you have a very good conference. I think the WCC is a step down from the MWC but if you look at the top two teams in Gonzaga and St Mary's they are about as good as the top two in the MWC right now. BYU makes them a viable threat to be a two bid league every year. I just wish Gonzaga hadn't backed out of their game with UNLV this year.
That's not surprising. If your looking at a non biased person like I've been touting Kenny White is your guy. In his power poll he has a tie in the power rankings between these two but obviously Bama being the home team they give the FG. The guy set the lines for 30 years. I think his numbers probably have some validity to them and he is about as unbiased as they come. Colin Cowherd used to praise this guy and have him on all the time. I'm pretty sure he was on Rome as well. The best guy to know if your a betting man. BTW look at where he has Georgia... talk about insane respect for that team since Green came back. http://www.mvpelite.com/
I don't see Bama being able to keep up with Auburn. I'm gonna take the points. As long as Newton is eligible they will be tough to beat even though I think TCU and Boise are better then Auburn. Oregon and Auburn would be one of the most exciting college football games ever and it'd be hard to be disapointed if that's what we get. I do think Auburn would beat Oregon.
Alabama up 21-0. They seemed poised to make it 28, but at the end of a long run by Ingram, the ball was punched out and went into the endzone for a touchback.
This is exactly what I want. I was afriad with a close loss Auburn wouldn't fall enough to be passed by TCU or Boise but if you look at the CPU standings the it certainly doesn't appear that LSU or Wisconsin or Stanford will be able to pass Boise or TCU especially f you consider this USA Today Poll RK TEAM RECORD PTS 1 Oregon (48) 10-0 1459 2 Auburn (4) 11-0 1398 3 Boise State (5) 10-0 1341 Those are 1st place votes in the coaches poll. This could turn out to be a great day in the history of college football.
Like I said in previous posts, Cam Newton is the best player in the country. He proved that in the second half of this game tonight. Newton made big plays with his arm and with his legs. In my opinion, this comeback should solidify his spot at the top of the Heisman rankings.
What a great performance by Newton... that may be one for the ages. It took a lot to happen for Auburn to win that game but if I'm a Bama fan I'm looking for a cyanide pill because that was one disgraceful final 3 quarters of football. 3 trips inside the 10 and 2 FG's. 5 sacks and numerous dumb penalties... 3 penalties for illegal substitution. And for the record Gary Danielson can eat a dick... you have no idea what would have happened or will happen if Boise played Auburn. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Oregon losses so we can find out.
If Trent Richardson didn't drop that TD earlier in the game, the Tide would have another win. Instead, he dropped and they settled for a field goal. That's just the way this game goes I guess. FTR: Nick Fairley has to be considered one of the best defensive players in the country after tonight's performance. That gives Auburn top players on both sides of the ball. That was a completely random outburst during tonight's game. It had almost nothing to do with what was going on...pointless.
