Really looking forward to bama v lsu should be a really good tough game between a good physical bama running game and a damn good lsu defense.
Yet another reason I hope some school picks Jim McElwain as a HC, he has 2 1st Rounders on offense, one of which is a Heisman winner, yet calls a horrible game. Dive, Bubble Screen, Wildcat, PUNT! The McElwain playbook at it's best...
Colin Klein starting for Carson Coffman, in a surprise change. Coffman had some injury, but he was practicing on Thursday and there was no indication that he wouldn't go today. Wildcats get a quick TD. 62 yard return followed by a long run for a TD
I remember those days. At Fresno though, Jimmy would call two straight dives and then a bubble screen.
I really question his ability to call plays at the right time, he calls the Wildcat at such inopportune times. 3rd & 7, WILDCAT! I also hate the fact that a downfield pass is considered a "specialty" play in his offense...
I was kind of surprised that you didnt throw the ball more, I mean even though you had the pick, you were still pretty effective at moving the ball through the air. Regardless...we won
Kansas State up 10-0. If they can win this, they'd actually lead the historical series over Texas, which is amazing. Since the creation of the Big 12, Kansas State is 4-2 against Texas.
It seems McElwain likes to get something going, then switches to something else. It was a great game, Nevis ate Vlachos alive and that 4th & 1 play was pure brilliance.
Nevis has easily been the best DT in the conference outside of Fairley, even Nevis was showing us what Glenn Dorsey would have been if he was healthy. I thought as far as the Peterson-Jones battle, it wasnt as clear cut as it could have been. I thought Jones receptions came on quick slants and crossing patterns, which are probably some of the harder plays to defend in man coverage. Though I'm really not worried. The fact of the matter is that Bamas likes to run the ball, and we didnt get killed in that department after dealing with Newton. Even though I want Garry Crowton fired after this year, that play was well drawn and executed even better with Ridley giving the pitch and the block downfield by JJ. Most importantly 0 LSU turnovers
Texas with a good chance to score finally, and Gilbert is picked off in the end zone! texas had it first and 10 from the ksst 11
Gilbert up to 5 INTs now Kansas State up 31-0 They're also 0/2 passing the ball. Run, run, and run some more with Coffman out.
Haha, only Colin Klein and Daniel Thomas have yards for KState's offense. Klein 2 of 4 passing, both completed to Thomas for 9 yards. Klein with 102 yards on the ground, Thomas with 106. Probably jinxed it, but who cares. That's impressive. *** And literally the second after I post that, it dies.
Strange not to use another running back in that kind of offense. Anyway, Kansas State completed the rout, but unfortunately lost the shutout. 39-14 final, with two Longhorns TDs in garbage time. It was 39-0 after three quarters. In other late action, Stanford creamed Arizona, Texas A&M upset OU, and Texas Tech leads Missouri late. edit: Red Raiders convert on 3rd and 3 and are thus able to run out the clock and preserve their 24-17 lead.
most schools running the wildcat average 5 to 7 yards. so 3rd and 7 might not be that inopportune. granted i'd rather see it on second and short or first and 10.
