Reason # 4,546,321 why college football is a joke. How in the World is Auburn #1 in the BCS? Come on. Just have a playoff w/ a selection committee and they'd have the best postseason in sports.
Look at each team's schedule Auburn blows away Oregon, Oregon literally has Stanford and garbage for the rest.
louisiana tech must have the worst special teams in the country. Punter averages about 20 yards a pop, and the kick returner loves to fumble it to the other team.
It's based on perception. LSU barely beat a depleted heels team opening night, they should have lost that UT game. We know they aren't very good. So. Carolina had the big win over 'Bama but lost to UK, and their only other quality win was over a mediocre Arkansas team. They needed OT to beat Clemson at home, they beat UK by 3. Oregon's closest win was by 20. Oregon crushed Stanford which is a better win than any on Auburn's sched. That same UT team that LSU only beat b/c they didn't call a persoanl foul penalty for Hebert throwing his helmet Oregon beat 48-13. Auburn is up there b/c of the perception of the SEC which isn't as good as it has been in recent years. There's no way they should have jumped ahead of oregon, CFB is a complete joke.
And Oregon's other opponents are a combined 11-32. Besides Stanford, they've played the three teams at the bottom of the Pac Ten in addition to three OOC teams with a combined ONE WIN in their own respective conferences (thank you Portland State). All of the best Pac Ten teams besides Stanford are still coming up, at USC, vs. Locker and UW, and at Cal in consecutive weeks, then finishing off with a healthy Foles-led Arizona and Oregon State. The reason Oregon was passed over is because they've played garbage so far outside of Stanford. Sure, they've blasted these teams for the most part, but it's about who you beat not how you beat them. They win out and they won't need to worry about anything.
Boise State might as well be the Gonzaga of college football. How this team is getting so much praise for destroying the likes of LA Tech, San Jose St., Toledo, and New Mexico State is beyond me.
Auburn hasn't been beating juggernauts either and the best win from either team was Oregon over Stanford. The BCS is a joke, always has been and always will be.
That's how every team goes. Destroy who you should, win a big game or 2(Virginia/Oregon St). You're golden Same could be said for Oregon & TCU, who have only each beaten 1 ranked team this year and have also destroyed an equal ammount of fluffs.
21 straight wins. 32 straight regular season wins. It's not their fault they're in a mid-major conference. This is a team that was a FCS team not too long ago. They've absolutely dominated college football. Most Big Six conference teams don't schedule great mid-major programs because they're afraid they'll lose and even if they win, they won't gain anything. You're basically bashing Boise State because no one wants to play them - the ultimate compliment. The NEW Mountain West with Nevada, Boise, and Fresno will be a damn good conference...and guys like you won't be able to bitch about who they play anymore.
hahahaha what? Auburn has three "big" wins against Arkansas, LSU, and South Carolina. They also have a perfect record while playing in the best conference in college football.
Auburn look a really good team with a phenom QB, their win over LSU impressed as much as anything as that D of LSU is pretty damn good. Not sure they will stay perfect though. Oregon are overrated in my opinion ( not that its worth more than an empty coke can!!), cannot see them as a better team than Bama or LSU even though their record says so. We seem to get Arkansas games every week here in the Uk!!! I am sick of it!!
Cam Newton is the best player in the country right now and he's carrying Auburn on his back. If you give a genius offensive coordinator like Gus Malzahn that much talent, he'll pick apart and destroy any defense. Malzahn has to be one of the top head coach candidates in the country. I think Oregon better than LSU just because the Bayou Bengals lack offensive firepower. The quarterback-by-committee approach has worked better than I thought, but their receivers will need to step up next season if they want to win the SEC West. They have a great stable of running backs with Ridley, Ford, and Ware*. (* I think Spencer Ware is going to be a damn good player for them - he'll be fun to watch for the next couple of years)
I must admit that the OC for Auburn seems one cerebral fucker, his formations look standard but are so fluid after the snap its scary. Will Newton declare eligible after the season? I think Tolliver is the only WR LSU have the rest couldn't catch a cold. I think its good that Bama and Florida have struggled as its made it one hell of a conundrum.
In my opinion, Malzahn is the best coordinator in college football. Even Tolliver was dropping passes against Auburn. They have a pair of young, talented players in Reuben Randle and Russell Sheppard...they just need to develop. If the LSU coaching staff taps into their potential, they'll have a dangerous all around offense. It's awesome. This is the first time in a while that the SEC East has been up for grabs. Hopefully Carolina can pull some shit off and win it.
LSU coach needs to buy a brain and they may stand a chance as that defense is the best in college football imo . The Dline and LB are outstanding. Still my pride and joy due to my teen years which is Rutgers are completely fucking depressing this year , even more so than before. Never saw this section before believe it or not , I may add more of my uneducated BS in here on Saturday!!!
Nobody plays juggernauts every week, but Auburn has at least been beating decent to good teams with some consistency. They've taken down four teams that are ranked as of today, better than just about any other team in the country can boast. Like I said, it's not winning against one or two great teams that matters, it's beating a number of good teams.
One of the more interesting stories is the race in the Big 10 for the Rose Bowl. We have 4 teams that could potentially finish in a 3 way tie for 1st place. I think it'll be all for not should Michigan St beat Iowa this weekend but I don't see that happening. The Spartans have @Iowa Minnesota Purdue @ Penn State Iowa has the toughest road Michigan St @ Indiana @ Northwestern Ohio State @ Minnesota Ohio State @ Minnesota Penn St @ Iowa Michigan Wisconsin @ Purdue Indiana @ Michigan Northwestern I'm going to assume that Iowa beats Michigan St in Iowa City and then Ohio State and Iowa will knock one of the other out of the race but it's quite exciting if you follow the Big 10. I still think that even a loss by Michigan State would keep them in the drivers seat based on that silly rule about the last team to make the Rose Bowl gets the nod and without MSU playing OSU even a tie between the two.
