Great game. That late hit penalty on Boise States final drive was bullshit, what can a defensive player do in that situation?? The receiver had just side stepped a defender on the sideline so the next guy had to make sure he got him out. The guy stepped out as the defender was already in the process of making the tackle. Hate that shit... As far as Tyrod Taylor is concerned, I don't see what all the hate is about. I was impressed with his elusiveness, but more-so with his pocket awareness. He always seemed to know where the pressure was coming and found safe places to get to in order to try and make a play. Yea, he under threw a few balls, but he also made plenty of plays considering it was his first game of the year and Boise States defense was flying all over the place wreaking havac. I think he could have a pretty damn good year.
He can listen for the whistle. I heard it on my couch. I guarantee the defender heard it from the ref right next to him.
I would honestly say that Alabama is the only team that is a legitimate threat when the argument is best mixture of coach, system, and players. I think where they benefit is that they're are so well coached it's not likely they lose to other WAC teams, but I think they would get caught once or twice if they needed to play a major conference schedule. Like if they were playing a team like Texas A&M today, I could see the Aggies taking it, because Johnson is good at everything Taylor's bad at. Or if they had to play Georgia and Arkansas back to back in the SEC, it would be an incredible test for them. They might get credit for beating VT on the road, but the fact that they don't have to play these consecutive, week to week challenges is what allows them to have undefeated seasons. Sure they have Oregon State, but that's in 19 days. The hardest back to back they have is probably Enderle and Idaho then Fresno. People might say I'm just spitting in the wind because they show up against the big boys in the bowl games, but again, that's with a great coach and plenty of time to prepare.
Ah, I didn't hear the whistle, must have been blown when he first stepped out... thought the ref missed that. I just saw the receiver try to get the extra yards then step out as that last hit was coming.
@Idaho, Fresno, and then @Nevada...that's a pretty tough three game stretch. I think Fresno will lose to Boise, but they'll play a physical game against them. It could wear them down just enough for Nevada to pull off the upset. Colin Kaepernick is nasty. If they get the pistol going against Boise State, it'll be a fun game to watch.
Adding on a bit to my sched point, this is the reason why they would take teams that have one loss over Boise. It's hard to imagine they wouldn't have one loss if they were in the same type of conference as some of those teams. Like if Miami beats Ohio State on the road, Pittsburgh on the road, Clemson on the road (all three within 21 days) FSU, UNC, VTech, South Florida, but loses at Georgia Tech, how does that compare to beating Boise's WAC sched? Or if Bama happens to lose to Penn State, then hammers Florida, at Arkansas, at South Carolina, at Tennessee, at LSU, Miss State, Auburn, and the SEC title game, do they deserve to be left out if Boise and Ohio State go undefeated? It's just hard to say they do. And it's not like they don't have any options here, Utah made the choice. They wanted better competition to make themselves into a better program. I respect what Boise's doing, but they should really think about stepping up and making this situation a lot clearer. If they can beat USC, Utah, and UCLA in 15 days it'll be hard to say they don't deserve a chance.
Wow, really ESPN? They honestly had this on the bottomline....quoted: "Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor thinks Miami Heat F Lebron James will attend Saturday's game vs. Miami (FL) after exchanging text messages." Fuck ESPN
I arrived home at 9:49 last night. The first play I saw was when WVU fumbled in their own territory while down 6-21. That was midway through the 4th quarter. It looked like Marshall was going to win the game at that point.
WTF? Ohio St has been one of the best teams in the country over the last decade. You can argue they didn't deserve a couple of BCS appearances, but are you serious with the "they don't deserve a high ranking" crap?
