Phillies and Red Sox are having the kind of injury luck that Portland had this past season in the NBA.

For the Phillies, Utley, Howard, Victorino, and Rollins have all missed significant time or will miss time. All but Rollins are on the DL at the moment, leaving the Philly lineup feeling punchless. Jamie Moyer also got injured and is out for the season.

Boston has had major injury problems as well, with Youkilis, Victor Martinez, etc.

Terrible call in the 9th inning of tonight's Phillies-Marlins game. The score was 4-4 and the Marlins had a runner on 2nd. A ball was hit down the left field line. The 3rd base umpire called it foul. It was clearly fair.
Maybe the runner on 2nd would have scored on the play, but maybe he wouldn't.

As I'm writing this, the Phillies win in the 10th inning. What a fuckin' joke.

I was watching the Phillies-Marlins game when it happened and while I think it was fair, it was very close.

It was fair before and after the bag but it's not as clear if it went over the bag as it was going by.

Morrow was one out away from a no hitter, but an Evan Longoria infield single broke it up.

Tampa Bay strikes out too much in general, and has a low BA, contributing to these kinds of performances.

Seattle turns their first triple play since 1995, when Jeff Nelson dropped a bunt on purpose.

    Athletics 4th
    Doug Fister pitching:
Jack Cust : Cust singled to right.
Kevin Kouzmanoff : Strike swinging, Strike swinging, Ball, Ball, Foul, Foul, Ball, Kouzmanoff walked, Cust to second.
Mark Ellis : Ball, Strike looking, Pickoff attempt, Ellis grounded into triple play third to second to first, Cust out at third, Kouzmanoff out at second.
End of Inning (0 Runs, 1 Hit, 0 Errors)

    Johnny Cueto is a jag-off.

Bench-clearing brawl, but nothing noteworthy last night, aside from Cueto spiking everyone in sight with his cleats. He ought be suspended for at least 10 games.

Carpenter and LaRue got injured as a result of Cueto's idiocy.

I dunno, he was picked up and thrown against the net. He probly shouldn't have been flailing his legs around, but the Cards shouldn't have done that.

    Good game tho, otherwise!

no one gets hurt in these things unless someone does something stupid.

Cueto's argument was that a bunch of guys were around him. Did he think he was in a dark alley and being attacked by a gang? Seriously, this is baseball. Most of the "brawls" are guys hugging and clenching. Except for the occasional idiot, guys don't throw punches and kicks.

Cueto is an idiot, so he decides to attack everyone around him with his spikes.

Even if you're "thrown up against a fence", you just let the thing ride itself out. It won't take long, and no one will get hurt.

Like I said, he shouldn't have flailed his legs around, but circumstances being what they are, I think he misses 1 start, nothing more.

Cards got a grand slam from Colby Rasmus today to make it 4-0 after Schumaker hit a grand slam against the Reds on Sunday to break that one open.

after making negative comments about the Cardinals before the series, Brandon Phillips is now 1/13 in the series, in addition to starting the brawl yesterday.

There have been plenty of baseball fights where players suffered real injuries.

D'Backs just went back-to-back-to-back-to-back off Dave Bush of the Brewers. Brewers went back-to-back earlier. All solo shots in a 4-2 game.

    Of course there have been.

There have been plenty more where no injuries were suffered.

There have been thousands of brawls through the years.
