I'll bet anything he is gone from Florida before 2012. He'll be making 13.75 mil each of the last 2 seasons of his contract, plus he and Ubaldo are fighting for the Cy Young.

he and Ubaldo are the two best pitchers in the NL, above Halladay, and neither is making much. Ubaldo signed a four year deal for 10 mill in January '09 (read that in SI) and he's making 1.5 mill this season.

Patterson drops an easy fly ball and there goes the perfect game.

Michael Saunders, up next, took Lester deep.

    2-1 Seattle

I just saw a fat woman in a Boston jersey cheering as Milton Bradley slid into third for a triple.

looked to me like Getz might've been out at second on the steal attempt. Jeter's tag knocked his hand away before it hit the bag. Very close play.

The call proves costly, as Podsednik hits one off the left field foul pole.

    2-0 Royals.

Magglio Ordonez broke his ankle sliding into home yesterday. He'll be out about two months, probably killing Detroit's playoff chances.

halfway through Rays/Tigers, and the two teams have combined for 0 hits, 2 walks, and 8 Ks.

    Garza and Scherzer pitching.

no hits until 2 outs, bottom of 6th

but walk, catcher's interference, and walk, means bases loaded, two outs for Joyce, who hits a grand slam off Scherzer.

Greinke lasted just four innings at home against the Twins, allowing 8 earned runs.

    He also struck out 7.

Twins lead 19-0 in the 8th.

    Liriano with a dominating performance.

Mauer 5/5 with 7 RBI. He was a double away from the cycle, but he was pinch hit for in the 8th.

Youkilis knocks Haren out of his Angels debut with a line drive.

Haren pitched well, but Youkilis hit one off his pitching arm.

4.2 IP, 7 hits, 2 runs, no walks, 8 Ks

Normally I root for no hitters (unless it's happening against the Yankees or being thrown by a Red Sox,) but this one pissed me off. The home plate ump was determined to help Garza get it.

    Strasburg pulled at gametime tonight.

He wasn't feeling well during warmups.

I'm at home sick and watching a game of baseball.

When they decide to walk a batter why do they go through the motions of pitching the ball 4 times? Why can't they just say 'walk this guy' and save the time and everyones boredom?

It is rare, but occasionally a pitcher will make an errant throw when trying to intentionally walk a batter. The runner or runners on base would then be able to move up a base.
