Reds' pitcher Travis Wood is perfect through 7 innings...and his teammates haven't given him any run support either. 0-0
Top of the 9th now, 2 outs. Halladay still in the game for the Phillies. If the Reds can score a run I wonder if Halladay would be the first pitcher to ever have a perfect game and have one thrown against him?
Texas hosted Baltimore for a four game series and got swept. Texas was heavily favored in each game, especially Saturday (Cliff Lee vs. Chris Tillman) and today (CJ Wilson vs. Arrieta). Texas still has a cushion in the West, because the Angels have been rather poor lately as well.
Yunel Escobar and Jo-Jo Reyes dealt to Toronto for Alex Gonzales. Nice haul for the Blue Jays as Yunel was struggling, but he's still very young with a lot of talent and he'll be under team control until 2012. Link:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5379421
Very nice trade for Toronto. They've had pitching issues and Reyes should help deal with that. Plus they are making moves for the future, which has to be nice to see if you're a Jays fan.
Yeah. As much as I hate the Yankees, Steinbrenner actually wasn't that bad a guy outside of baseball. He would call in every year and donate a lot of money for the Jimmy Fund telethon the Sox/WEEI put on.
Red Sox designate Fernando Cabrera for assignment, clearing a spot for a returning Manny DelCarmen. Thanks god. 1 down, several to go. Pedroia is still gone for at least a month, tho
Gotta love the Inland Empire 66ers, I interviewed with them but the cool thing about them is they are in all probability the only minor league baseball team with a dance squad.
Mat Latos sneezed wrong and went on the DL but SD was looking for a reason to shut him down for a spell. He will be back in action against the Pitt Buccs on 7/24.
so after going 0/9 with 5 Ks in Class A, Manny went 0/3 in his first game back on Thursday and promptly injured a calf muscle. He's missed Friday and Saturday and is likely to miss more time.
Red Sox beat Texas 3-2 in 11. Youkilis ties it in with an RBI double (scoring Scutaro) in the bottom of the 9th and wins it with a bases loaded sac fly in the 11th, again scoring Scutaro.
And with that, July 17, 2010 will go down in my fantasy baseball history as the final date I owned Manny Ramirez. He is on one of my seven teams this year. He was on my bench in the one league today. He'll be dropped momentarily.
