That would have been fine. It would have ended before 11:30, which is late, but more reasonable. I actually liked the "Heroes Among Us" thing, but it took up a lot time that could have been spent playing the game.
I sat through all of that and I'm pretty sure they talked about a woman who got testicular cancer. The people who put that bit together must've been confused. I started watching FOX at 7:45, hoping there would be a short pregame and then the first pitch. Instead, a rerun of The Office from like 3 years ago until 8, then heroes among us, some annoying fat woman singing a song, several introductions of the starting lineups, stuff about Steinbrenner, stuff about Sheppard, and more, all before the annoying fat woman got to sing the National Anthem. If they want to spend 45 minutes doing annoying stuff, then start doing that at 7:30 so the game can start at a reasonable time.
Well, yeah, there's that too. I only watched because "it counts" and even so, I usually don't watch. I think it was more to see Ubaldo and Price face off this year. I probably should have given up after the second inning.
Hah, I did. I think I flicked it back on to see Brian Wilson at the end, too... They should just do away with it having any meaning. When a guy who won't sniff the playoffs is the reason the other league gets home field, that's an issue. It didn't happen this year, but it has a few times in the past.
I completely agree. That's why I've always (even going back to the old format of alternating leagues) advocated that the team with the best regular season record get home-field throughout. That could even result in a wild card team getting the home field over a division winner, but I'd rather that than any other way. At least it would have been earned.
