Here's a completely useless Cliff Lee "update" http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/15/cliff-lee-doesnt-like-to-be-the-center-of-attention/
The Yanks rally shouldn't get Werth or Crawford, they already have and excellent trio of Granderson(now hitting lefties too!), Swish, and Gardy, all cheap, all under control.
Granderson: 2011: $8.25 million, 2012: $10 million, 2013: $13 million club option w/$2 million buyout, 2014: Free Agent Swisher: 2011: $9 million, 2012: $10.25 million club option, $1 million buyout, 2013: Free Agent Gardner: 2011: aprox $500,000, 2012: Arbitration eligible, expect a big pay increase No exactly cheap, or young(except Gard). But still very good. And Crawford and Werth would be an instant upgrade of Swisher, in terms of offense. Or even Gardner, who I have read could be had in a deal if the Yanks get an upgrade in OF and need an upgrade at another spot. I am absolutly not expecting him to be traded tho. That would be a monumental mistake unless there was a massive return.
A little Jeter drama for the early morning. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5819502 I really hope Jeter doesn't try to bend the Yanks over for an few extra years or a couple extra million. He has made enough over his career, and the Yanks have made a lot off him. There should be a middle ground. Where could he go (as the author asks but then answers terribly)? St Louis without a doubt.
If Derek Jeter plays anywhere else besides the Yankees for the rest of his MLB career, I will be in a state of utter shock.
"public relations nightmare" fuck off. Id gladly watch eduardo nunez strike out every other at bat than watch jeter unable to range right or left 3 inches.
What's especially funny, is that in the comments of the ESPN article, everyone is doing exactly what the Yankees are worried about: rallying against the organization and demanding Jeter get whatever he wants. This will be an interesting negotiation.
He has other options... just options that won't pay him anywhere near what the Yankees will, even if they Yanks play "hardball" with him. No one is going to come close to matching even the Yankees' most frugal offer.
Juan Miranda to Arizona for Scott Allen. http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2010/11/18/yankees-trade-juan-miranda-to-arizona/
No way any team pays anywhere close to what the Yankees will with Jeter. A 3 years, 50 million contract is more then fair.
He was gone after this season anyway. Interesting pick up. Org fodder. I was at that game where he hit a walk-off off of Kyle Farnsworth's leg. God bless Juan Miranda.

Like I just said to a co-worker, I don't honestly think Jeter will get less than 5 years. What money he gets is debateable, and it won't be $20M per, but I think it's going to be hard for the Yankees to sell letting Jeter go before ARod.
