Confusing punt there. Several Panthers were down there when the ball landed, but not a single one got between the ball and the end zone. One just ran into the endzone and smacked his hands in frustration when the ball bounced into it. Hey stupid, don't just stare at the ball and pray it bounces right. Prevent it from crossing the goal line.
three punts in the third quarter already, and all three have been touchbacks. Percy Harvin has yet to touch the ball.
Favre hits Rice for 20 on 3rd and 18, but a hit by Godfrey and the ball comes out. Panthers recover. Huge play. first play after that: Stewart for 17
Vikings offense completely dominated in the third quarter. Just had a three and out where Minnesota did nothing and Peppers got a sack of Favre on third down.
they're going for 2. incomplete. 12-7 Risky move on 3rd and 26. They went for the deep shot instead of a shorter pass, which the defense would probably give up, and that would set up a field goal try. It worked, though.
Rich is looking very good to win that fantasy league. Favre has thrown for 146, rushed for none, and was involved in zero TDs. Rice has 69 of those yards.
Moore to Smith, who gets a four yard catch and then a 31 yard run. Minnesota missed the tackle. 1st and goal inside the MIN 5
Jonathan Stewart breaks tackles and like AD's TD earlier, gets in the end zone. 18-7, and the XP is good. 19-7 May as well have gone for 2 there.
Jared Allen was supposed to be the end controlling the game. He was the guy NBC was hyping. Instead, it's Julius Peppers. Too bad for Carolina he isn't more consistent. He sometimes can have ridiculous games like this one. Anyway, I didn't hear Dungy or Harrison refer to the Dallas game once. Figures.
big conversion of 3rd and 9. 16 yard completion to Steve Smith, who's also having a great game. Now they can grind more clock. Otherwise, Minnesota would get it back with over 6 minutes left. Childress is going to challenge, saying Smith's foot was touching the chalk when he caught it. He sees the writing on the wall. If the first down stands, Carolina will be able to grind it to under 4 left, most likely.
ruling on the field stands, and now Minnesota is down to one timeout. One more first down for Carolina, and this game is over, IMO.
and there it is. A big surprise, but Carolina uses the play fake, knowing Minnesota would be expecting run. 55 yard catch by Barnidge. If I was Carolina, I'd take three knees and kick the FG. You don't want to score here. Carolina was fortunate the defender dragged down Barnidge (it was quite a battle), because Barnidge was foolishly trying to get in the end zone. Carolina still running it, and Minnesota going all out to stop the TD. Of course, the game is over now because they've let 2 minutes burn off the clock trying to stop the TD. Carolina wins. Icing on the cake: Moore to Stewart TD on third down.
