not having pace and ellis will def hurt us but i think if we can contain slaton and andre johson which i think revis could shut down, our defense shouldnt have a problem...schaub shouldnt be a starter in my opinion.. if sanchez can take care of the ball and our o-line can give him time i think the short quick passes will work against the texans...i also think the play action will be effective...
Revis will have a good game and he'll win most matchups throughout the year, but you can only hope to contain Andre Johnson not shut him down completely.
dont be silly jetsnation06 revis is god and will shut down anyone, completely and totally. its funny around here sometimes
Breaking down the matchup between the Jets and the Texans, I think our offense is capable of putting up 17-24 points on the Texans. I'm worried about our defense: 1) The 3-4 allows more versatility in attacking the offensive line and creating lanes for other players to blitz. However, the Texans' zone-blocking scheme negates this advantage because the offensive linemen can react better to stunts and blitzes. Not to mention that with only 3 d-linemen, our linebackers will have to take on offensive linemen, most likely on the second level. Now consider that Ellis and Pace will be gone. Aside from Jenkins, it will be difficult for our front seven to penetrate the line. 2) Our front seven is relatively slow and we have had problems with fast and shifty running backs last year (Sproles, McFadden, Hillis who's fast for such a big guy). Slaton is both fast and shifty. If Slaton is gaining good yardage, Houston will play-action us to death. I think Revis will be able to cover Andre Johnson to a certain extent, but Owen Daniels and Walters will be able to get open every once in a while. However, I don't think their passing game presents the kind of problems their running game does. So that's what I think it comes down to: can we stop the run? Fortunately, the dome and the astroturf will allow our front seven to play faster and react to cutbacks better. However, I'm still worried. Here's hoping that we can stop Slaton.
Missing Ellis and Pace will be a huge blow. They are our two best passrushers.... I agreee with SettlerDawg, stopping the run will be (like always) critical to our success.
LOL yeah it is, ac. I try to delve through the multitude of comedic posts and stick to the football although you're right, at times it can be difficult.
How can you not be impressed by their O? Unless you're talking about just this preseason game, but they have weapons everywhere. It's a high octane offense.
Pettitte gave up the perfect game after hairston booted a routine grounder. Still pitched a great game and as for favre, i watched a couple minutes then simply shaked my head and turned it off.
