I'm actually still in school, but if you don't like my post, I'd at least like a reason why? What didn't you like about it?
Should it have been higher or lower? We had the 16th ranked defense in football. I think that's pretty average, and I felt the linebackers played well against the run for the most part. They simply didn't get to the quarterback enough for me to rank them any better than that. The secondary may have been a little lower on the list, but Revis is enough to make it a decent enough grade. I feel the secondary looked worse in large part due to the lack of pass rush and the coaching. Plus, Elam made many big plays this year.
Well to start, this was an excellent and well thought out post. I was working on something like this as I always do this time of year, but I'll wait a while to post it. Brett's grade is accurate. A low D or F for the last five games, but he deserved about a B for the rest, so it's pretty fair at C-. It kills me how underutilized Leon, TJ and the running game was. IMO, a big reason this team collapsed. It's amazing. We have some great WRs, but it just seemed as if they weren't getting open. I don't know if it was them not getting open or what, but it sure seemed like it. Maybe we should be looking for a another WR in the draft or via free agency. Ultimately I have confidence in them for next season though regardless. Stuckey and Clowney have great potential and could each be something special. I wouldn't give up on Brad Smith yet. As for TEs, I'd say it was about a C for most of the season and an A for about three games in between. What a difference a year makes is right. I can't believe how well Woody held up either. We could use a little depth though. Defensive line grade is fair. It would have been an A following the Titans game though... A C/C- later in the year... The LBs were very disapointing. There was no pass rush at all (I think this could be the work of Sutton though. But coverage was atrocious. Pace was the best LB all year and Barton was also consistent. Vernon's ghost cousin, Bryan Thomas, didn't do much past the first couple games either and I didn't see much from David Harris. I'd go for an athletic LB such as Karlos Dansby, who has speed, can blitz effectively, cover the TEs and has experience in the 3-4. DBs grade is fair. Revis was a shutdown corner all year and Rhodes wasn't the playmaker he was last year. I like Lowery for next year but we do need another starter there along with one at safety. I like Feeley, but I have to say I thought Hodges was solid. I wouldn't cry if he was kicking again for them next season. And of course, it all come down to coaching. What would be interesting would be to compare grades of the team after the Titans game to the grades for the team in the five games following. That would be something... Great write up. You covered every part of this team and did so well, accurately and with objectivity. How can you go through this entire post and manage to post just this about it? You didn't give any insight or even clarification about what you mean... I think this guy was kidding though... Right?
excellent reading Mack, just as good as many journalists in regards to personal insight and detail. I completely agree with the analysis of the WR, they never had good separation and did not help Favre. Both were to blame for the O's problems. I think you actually give the secondary too much credit, since they were either 30th or 31st in the league in passing. They were an F in my opinion because while Revis covered one guy, others receivers always got open. That's about it, thanks for the read.
I think the pass rush was a major issue for the secondary, making it look worse than it actually was. I had been working on this for a little while, so I didn't proofread it and go over what I was writing as much as I thought because I really just wanted to release it to get opinions out there. The thing was 10 pages long in Microsoft Word. I can't blame anyone for skimming through it.
i agree with everythin u said here..maybe im just pissed about the last 5 games but our lb's sack numbers are terrable
