That is just last year. What was '07 and '08 combined?

He was hurt in college. He was hurt at the beginning of '07 in the Yankees minors and he was hurt for an extended amount of time last year..that's a lot. Mpw you're going to tell me it was because he was overweight in college..I know you have used that one before. What does it matter why? It's not like he resembles an olympic swimmer now.

I just read that in the print edition earlier today. It really, really pains me to have to deal with a Yankee team made up of players I actually enjoy watching and like as human beings. Swisher, Nady, and CC are all guys I've been a fan of for a while now.

Here, let me fill you in on the details... it will help you understand how it matters.

Joba had triceps tendonitis in college (2006). He also had some knee issues when he was heavier... and he was about 60+ lbs. heavier. He went from over 290 to 230 lbs. This is a big reason why he fell in the draft. He was a top 5 pick, otherwise.

In 2007, the injury he had with the Yanks was a tweaked hamstring, suffered while covering home plate. Nothing serious.

Last year, it was shoulder tendonitis. The extended period that he was shut down for was more precautionary than due to the severity of the injury.

So, yes, three (or four) injuries, one of which was fluky. Nothing major in there. No structural damage. No repetitive injury. Nothing that would have any sane person thinking that Joba is injury prone and incapable of starting.

Hahahahahaha. Don, if you can't remember what was actually said by someone, don't post it like it was fact.

You "know" I've used Joba's weight before as an argument? You can go search and point out where I might have said that, because I can assure you, I never did.

As for the point, you've been told already. But unless someone in the papers tells you what to think, you'll continue to say whatever "you" think, regardless of any facts presented to you. Here's an exercise: when you read these assclownish articles, try finding the factual evidence and statistics that back up the writer's point. Then compare that to the average post that disputes what you repeat from them. Chances are, 9 out of 10 times, the post contains more factual information.

But continue to read your paper rags. At least it gives us something to write about while there are no games going on.

The only one I'd worry about is the shoulder. If it really was just tendinitis and that's it then there should be no concern, but teams aren't always 100% honest about that sort of thing. I haven't watched any of his games this spring, but if it's true that his velocity is down, that definitely is a sign of shoulder problems. Velocity issues come from the shoulder, control/breaking pitch issues come from the elbow. Again, I don't know how his velocity is or anything like that, I'm just saying that it's not inconceivable that he could have lingering shoulder issues.

It's not, though. It was mechanical, as stated. He was sitting at 94-96 in his last start.

ETA: Regarding whether or not the team was truthful about the injury... common sense would tell me that in the case of a young pitcher with the potential to anchor a rotation for years to come, they're not going to take any chances with him. If it were more than tendonitis, they would have shut him down completely last year.

Steinbrenner said. "Look, there's no doubt small amounts of our tickets might be overpriced."

whats obscene is someone paying even 20 bucks to watch a team who hasnt won a damn ting in 25 years...and its a skewed number becaus of a few insanely priced tickets ..900, 1200 a piece.....take those out and Yankee tix are right in the mix with most other teams

Whats obscene is claiming your team has to win "RINGZ" to be worth paying to see in person.

Especially on a NY Jets message board.

I call bullshit on this one. Back in the 80s, when they sucked ass, I was in the stands cheering for the likes of Mattingly, Pagliarulo, and Winfield. I know junc was too. I'm pretty sure jonnyd's balls were hanging out in the stands somewhere during those days too.

Sure, the team gained a lot of fans thanks to the success of the 90s, and there is an air of superiority and aloofness thanks to a number of those fans, but it's no different than any other franchise. How many people attended Tampa Bay's opener last year? How many attended last year's closer?

I know you hate the Yankees and all of their fans, but at least post a valid point when you want to argue. Saying that the Yankees fans on this board would only pay to see a game if they were assured a winner is not just ludicrous, it's plain wrong.

That said, it does irritate me how expensive the tickets are becoming. It's getting too expensive to attend games with the whole family. I doubt I'll make more than one game this year.

Ahh, I see your point. We both know he was just Yankees-Mets trashtalking in response to the article though.

I would agree with you though that anyone who wouldn't pay to see their team even in the bad years but will rush to the gate when they win is a shitty fan. Speaking of which, where is TBJF?

I just have to say, Gardner is thoroughly impressing me tonight with the throws he's making. Hopefully he can continue to throw like this and I'll just be wrong about him.

does anyone else think the new stadium is ugly? I dont like it at all. Why did they have to put those ugly grey bleachers up? Looks like the stadium is unfinished or something. All the outfield seats look weird to me. Maybe its because I have to get used to it but Citi field looks way nicer to me.
