Used to be good? Where is this coming from? His numbers last year as an all around hitter were still good. He'd be perfect for your two hole.
Very nice, and Omar deserves credit for once again negotiating a reasonable contract by not letting Boras try to dictate the market. Edit: I see that just 3 weeks ago I thought that 4 years / $45 M would be necessary, so this deal looks even better from that perspective.
Fuck yeah!!! I'd love Manny for 2 years, that would put some serious heat on the Phils. 2 years is all I could tolerate of his bs though....
Good deal for Ollie. Ill give Minaya credit on this one, for the money Ollie's a better deal then Lowe. I still say you guys have no clear cut number 2 starter but at least in terms of depth your now better then the Braves and can match up pretty well with the Phils. It's ok not to have a clear number 2 when your ace is the best pitcher in the game.
Great great deal for ollie. He's not locked up long term, his contract is tradable, and some other team can overpay him giving him a long term deal when he's starts on the downside of his career in 2012.
Personally, I think we should still go after sheets, He can be had on the cheap say $7.5 mil and when healthy would be the # two we need. Screw Garcia and Redman one of them can play when Sheets is hurt. Also, Go after Hudson - he would make us a better team! Both defensively and offensively.
Personally, I think Megan Fox and Scarlett Johansson should give my balls a tongue bath every night. But realistically I don't think Fred Wilpon will pay for it.
White sox made an offer to abreu 1 year 8 million. I wouldnt match the offer but word is they are trying to get rid of jermaine dye. He would fill the LF hole pretty well and even though hes no manny, he comes with a good price tag (1 year 11 million)and no long term commitment
Omar said no more big moves this offseason. Said he's comfortable with this offense and this team, even though I'll interject that it's the same damn team that collapsed at the end of last year plus an 8th inning guy (I'd say KRod and Wagner cancel out). I say that he's a dumbass if he lets the offseason pass by without even taking a look at Dunn, Sheets or Manny, especially in this market. And especially with a new stadium that is going to print money for them in the biggest market in sports.
??? Why wouldn't you rather just have Abreu at 8 million then Dye at 11. Abreu fits your lineup better.
I have no problem spending more of Wilpon's money, but if K-Rod and Wagner end up being a wash, that means Rodriguez has had a bad year. Wagner was brilliant until the beginning of June (0.36 ERA), but had 6 bad outings in 22 games over the next 2 months, and then missed the rest of the season. If Rodriguez doesn't do a whole lot better than that the Mets have no shot even with Manny in leftfield.
Lowes 36 years old and it took a 4 year contract to get him. Yeah hes an inning eater but our bullpen looks much better and we dont need somebody to go 8 innings every time out. Perez has much more upside and has shown he can be step up in the clutch
Abreu is a lefty and the mets need a right handed bat. They are the same age but dye hit 35 homers last year. The guy put up mvp numbers in 06 and would balance the line up
