Um 91 million over 5 years is absolute insanity, I'm going to love watching the tears run down the faces of all the Yankee fans faces when they realize 2 years from now that this 252 million dollars they spent on 2 pitchers was wasted. Sabathia is a great pitcher but he is going to crumble in NY and Burnett .... other than his contract year when was the last team he lasted a full season?

As for the Mets deal.... Putz is a good pitcher and Reed isn't an awful platoon guy. He provides some pop but doesn't have any Endy speed although I still would like to see the Mets get Dunn or Ibanez. I'm going to miss Endy but I think having Putz and Krod makes the Mets 8th and 9th innings among the best in baseball. (At least on paper)

Three white people received in one trade. Not like I care. But maybe it will stop the racist nonsense.

Putz might be an issue in the clubhouse. I don't know enough about him to know how he'll react, but this doesn't look good...

That doesn't sound too good, but the following is straight from the horse's mouth:

Sounds good enough to me. This is a damn good deal IMO, especially if Putz reverts to 06-07 form.

Bullpen fixed, on to SP, Of, C and 2b. For SP, I really hope we resign Ollie, I can't understand why he isn't getting more interest, he is inconsistent but so is Lowe and Burnett and is younger, healthier and a lefty. I'd rather have Ollie than both Lowe and Burnett and wouldn't touch Burnett and his injury riddled body.

He doesn't need the saves right now, he's under contract and as long as he puts up the peripherals he's going to get paid when the time comes. Putz will be doing a lot more winning here than in Seattle.

I liked Joe Smith and Endy, but this is awsome, as long as each one of them is 100% into their role. Be it closer, set-up or whatever.

Also, looking forward to the HE'S A PUTZ! backpage headlines after he blows a game.

i love Ollie and definitely over a ex drunk Lowe who is how old? and an injury waiting to happen, and you know as our luck Would happen multiple times, burnett.

let his value drop and then snatch Ollie back
    johan
    pelfrey
    ollie
    maine

and im not convinced on a 5th possibly neise but ill like him to winthe job from a Free agent who is brought in.or he can be an injury replacement.

i liked smith and Edny too,but mostly b/c they where on MY team. i will love Green and Reed if they show the same hustle and determination and do their job when called upon.

but we collapsed 2 years in a row and you have to change something.

Anyone heard what ben sheets is asking for, I am fine with bringing back Ollie for one slot but if the yankees don't sign Sheets I say Omar should do what it takes to get him. He is a wildcard becasue of injuries but when he is healthy he is a #1 type guy. With 1 great and 3 quality starters in the fold we can take a chance on him.

For the record I love the putz deal! For me it is as much for getting rid of Heilman as it is getting a quality pitcher in return. I hate to loose Smith and Endy but on paper we just got alot better!

Completely seriously, I do wonder if he knows what putz actually means in Yiddish? It has become a somewhat innocent term for a jerk or a loser, but what it actually means is somewhat more, shall we say, personal. Coming to New York, of all places, with the name Putz could be embarrassing. Obviously the only solution is for him to never blow a game in his time here.

No one knew this? It is synonymous with schmuck. The guy had to change the pronunciation of his name when he became a baseball player because otherwise it means penis.

What I find strange about the story is that this never came up when he was growing up. He lived in suburban Detroit, which has a Jewish population of about 100,000, and nobody ever yelled from the stands "Hey, you putz, get off the mound!"?

Because he's not an A level FA starting pitcher. Once the A level guys are gone he will get his attention. Minaya said they will be talking with Boras tomorrow about him.

The ONLY people that equate PUTZ with PENIS are people like you that think about PENIS all day.
