Wang, Melky, Horne, and Eric Duncan for Johan (with an extension)

    Yes or no?

Too much for a guy who's gonna be available in a year...

Especially Melky, who's proven he can be our CF for the next 12 years...

Unless the Twins REALLY liked Wang I don't think this would be enough to get him.

Unless the Twins replace their GM with an alcoholic chimpanzee, that's not enough to get it done.

Johan would require either Hughes or Chamberlain, plus Tabata, and probably one or two more prospects.

I think the Twins do take that trade although Eric Duncan doesn't really fill a need. He plays 1st right? They need a CF to replace Hunter and Melky fills that void albit very cheaply. Wang has proven he can be a front line starter. There are rumors that the Twins would take Reyes straight up for Johan, Reyes isn't even the 2nd best shortstop in the NL East. Santana is walking so the Twins likely will move him because that's the way they do business.

Throw in Igawa, that will seal the deal.:breakdance: :breakdance:

Seriously though, if you are talking about Wang in any deal then you don't need to throw in anybody else, certainly not Melke. Wang has 4 more wins that Santana in the past two years while pitching in a much harder division. He has at least a few years of cheap left and the biggest reason is Santana walks at the end of this year which has already been mentioned. You might get Melke and Kennedy but no way Melke and Wang. Even that wouldn't happen unless the Yankees already had a deal with Hunter or Jones.

    You're way overvaluing Wang.

And no, I'd never make that deal. Melky is the future of the center field position. We have enough youth entering the rotation next year. While I'd love Santana, I'll wait another 13 months for him.

Not really. I know what he is. I'm just saying he is a number 1 starter and you don't give up that and Melke for something you can get for nothing in a year. If they wait until the trade deadline they will even get less. As usual, there will only be a handful of teams that can compete for him and we have the most to offer.

Wang is a number 2. He showed in the playoffs that he's not an ace.

I think you guys are going overboard with the Melky stuff. Is he even a prospect? Does he project to be anything more then the light hitter he's been so far?

I heard the Dodgers were talking about Kershaw and Kemp to start with for Santana so if anyone actually does trade for him rather then wait for him to FA they're going to have to give up a boatload of talent.

He hits fine for an 8-9 hitter.

    He's magic in centerfield though.

He's a .300 hitter who bats from both sides and plays a great CF with a rocket launcher for an arm... plus he's only 22..

a light hitter? hardly... and he's way past being a "prospect" IMO

Well he's not a .300 hitter and he had a pretty terrible season this year at the plate. If he works for the Yankees, great but in the context of trade value he wouldn't have much at all.

Anyone who wouldn't make that trade is crazy, beyond crazy. The Twins GM would hang up on Cashman immediately if that was all that was offered. You guys are seriously overrating Wang and Melky..

    Wang yes...

Melky no. If that were the case why every trade possibility with the Yankees the one of the first player they ask for is Melky?

8-9 hitters don't hit .300 except on the Yankees. .300 for most of the year anyway. He has slumps towards the end of each season it seems.

And you are seriously overrating somebody who walks in a year. Seriously. Not to mention he has a full no trade clause so it isn't like just anybody can trade for him because they want to or like you make it sound.
