Manny charged the mound...Pedro avoided getting ran over by Zimmer...Clemens throw a broken bat at a guy. There's a difference.
getting kicked out because he threw a broken bat at piazza please homeboy, your comparing a botched roller at first which is in fact a play versus something that has nothing to do with an actual play on the field, corny. another thing lenny dykstra. lucky.
manny charged the mound w/ a bat in his hand after a pitch was thrown over the plate, pedro tried to hit a player in the head and would have if the player didn't duck. those 2 deserved ejections more than Clemens as clemens didn't throw the bat at piazza, he threw it away and it happened to come close to him.
I'm not going to make light of any situation, since they were all bad, but what Clemens did was purposeful, and it was worthy of getting ejected. The only reason Clemens got away with it was because he missed. If a Met had done that to Posada, we'd be up in arms. Now that doesn't excuse Manny (though having the bat in his hand was more consequential than it was purposeful,) or Pedro (who is known for throwing at guys, just like Clemens.) However, you can't belittle what Rocket did simply because there are other situations which could be assumed at least as bad.
I do not believe for a second hews trying to hit him w/ the bat. he was never loking at him he caught the bat and threw it way- he was in psychotic mode that night and obviously not thinking straight. That doesn't make it ok what he did but he was not throwing the bat at him like he was the ball earlier that year when he hit him in the head. yes we would have been up in arms and Met fans had every right to be but no one can convince me he was throwing that bat at him unless Roger himself admits it.
I understand your standpoint, but to me, your position is a lot like people who defend Bonds by saying "He has never admitted it, so you can't call him guilty." And even if was because he was psychotic that night, that would not even come close to excusing it. And just as you mentioned, he threw at Piazza's head earlier in the year. You set yourself up for a guilty verdict that way.
The guy is a whacko, I wouldn't havehad a problem w/ him getting ejected but I don't think he was throwing it at Piaza. if he was he not only deserved to be ejected but deserved to be suspended for a long time.
Agreed. But of course, we'll never know. (Maybe after he gets into the Hall, but he'll definitely not admit it if he intended it until at least after getting in.)
