I agree people buy seats for different reasons. I came extremely close to buying a pair in section 110 row one. I needed 30 minutes or so to think about it and a scalper snatched them before I could commit. My mistake was with zero down ticket and PSL was $330 a ticket. I kept thinking Jesus I am on hook for $660 a game even pre-season, However, the scalper who bought it I see on stubhub sold the tickets to the pats game already for $1,800 a pair. That seat is my big regret, could have sold 50% of games and gone to 50% of games for rest of life for free but I kept thinking if it goes south I am out 30K. Someone who bought that seast was not a sucker, for a few years sell big games and sit in UD and let someone else pay off your PSL.

The biggest waste I think in stadium is the damm $95 or $105 UD seats in a bad location. Those seats are not worth $95 or $105, if sole reason to buy in upper decks is cheapness they make no sense.
I already see on fan sites people offering tickets up there at face.

I think somepeople like to sit real close, some people like clubs, some people with low senority who got mezz corners vs. UD EZ thought it was no brainer and some people don't tailgate and like to drive in right before game liked the fact in the club you can do this, some people tailgating is more important than game so it did not matter so much where they sit as long as it is in stadium. I hate PSLs but if I had to do it again I would snatch those two in section 110 row one for $30,000 and feel like a jerk for blasting PSLs and buying such expensive PSLs but I would have great seats for the next 300 games at the Meadowlands.

you cant park on the streets in manhattan.you would have to park in garages. and bing a tourist you will not be just in one area.use the trains
i would advise against renting a car.secacus is 1 stop from penn station which is a main hub for the nyc transit system.

I haven't been to Jersey since 1998....and i didn't do any sightseeing then either...so i don't know my way around the area.

I've got a feeling that i'm going to need to rent a vehicle for this trip....there are no restaurants around the hotel i'm staying at (and i don't want to starve)...plus, i want to purchase some Jets schwag.

You know the annoying immigrants that drive like 15 Mph on the turnpike...because they don't know what planet they're on.....that's going to be me.

Just having a little fun, no "real" harm intended.

I sure can't speak for the feelings of some fans when the actual season begins though. There may be some incidents to report.

MB - Just park your car and leave it running in front of the Modells in Times Square. I don't think anyone would mind one bit.......

I'll stick pictures of us at games in the 80's, hopefully that will deter some crap.

We actually just bought a Jetmobile, a car just for the games. It's a perfect Jet green and a beater.

Not bringing the SL55 to the game..

Loge, I checked it out for you as I was walking past it. It's a typical couple of "boxes" that you find all over the stadium. A sign says "Franks, Hot Dogs (isn't that the same thing?) Fries and beer, etc. There are also free-standing draft beer stands all along there too. It wasn't open and was not finished yet, but that's what the sigen kinda says on top of it.

Thanks 227, I appreciate the reconnaissance. Glad it's a food stand. You never know the way this place is shaping up. It could have been a Verizon phone store or MetLife insurance office.

So, do tell. What's the mood? How'd it go?

Go back and read Row One's latest post if you need to get fired up. He's back to knocking anyone's choice of less-desired $95 or $105 dollar seats.

MB - I live a few miles from there, and a trip to Paramus would also give you other options. There's a second Models also in Paramus on route 17 south, there's a new "Dick's Sporting Goods" that just opened on 17 north (I have not been in but I've been to others - nice store) and there's also a Sports Authority store that's similar to Modells that is a bit further along Route 4 west. Another "sleeper" is the JC Penney's store in Paramus in the Garden State Plaza Mall at the intersection on Routes 4 and 17. Penney's often has decent sports apparel at a good price. I've found good stuff there. If you did have the wife with you, she'd be thrilled with the mall there. Thrilled.

A word of caution - these stores are all CLOSED on Sundays. In Bergen County NJ we have blue laws which seem silly unless you lived here. It's the lone day of the week when Paramus is palatable.

I'll give you one more closer to your hotel - There a Sports Authority store in Clifton on Route 3 east about 10 minutes from your hotel. I took euro-Jet fans there last year and they were happy and bought a lot.

I'll help you out when it gets close if you'd like. Send me a private email.

    My Tour and Recon

    * * * * If you are Pepsi Corner Upper, do not read this post unless you want to be depressed! * * * *

General: Took my tour this morning. Overall impression is overwhelming. HUGE. A moderate to heavy amount of walking and stair climbing. It is a one-on-one tour with no chance of talking to management about anything. Very controlled, from begining to end. One hour... escorted in, escorted out. No chance to talk with anyone else... no group tours... totally isolated with the sales rep and him alone. Nothing in the conversation has changed and it's no different than a phone call except it's in person. The answers are the same as you'll get on the phone... no more, no less.

Getting There: Good luck. You will be given a shitty map in your email. No directions, just a map. The map is not detailed, but instructs you to park in Lot E and tells you the entrance is off of 120 north. It is, but if you come off the TPKE from the south at 16W you are fucked. It will go out onto Rte 3 West if you take the old way. From the south you have to take 3 east to 120 north. I rode around for 20 minutes after making a wrong turn. Directions would be nice, as in, "From the TPK South, take 16W and then such and such." Some brainless idiot decided that would be too much work I guess.

What To Expect: Your tour will begin in the air conditioned main entrance, which looks like a hotel lobby. you proceed into the inner sanctum with your escort, who takes you to your seat. No use of elevators, escalators, etc. None of them are supposedly running (bullshit). The entranceway is diagonally across from Pepsi Corner, and we climbed countless stairs and walked considerably to get up there. It truly is in nose-bleed territory. Your rep will make casual conversation on the way and answer questions, all except why the hell the escalators are not operational. I figured out it has to be intentional. Make this bastard walk the distance and climb the stair to soften him up and make him realize what a fucked up decidion he has made to not buy a PSL.

The Seats: I'm in a mid-level row in 342. The section is steep as hell and you are high. I mean, you are really high. My only comment was "Wow!" And Wow again. I'm saying this thing is higher than anything other spectator venue I've ever sat in. It's doable, but man, you are very removed from the field.

Casting Out The Bait: "You don't seem to happy with your seats!' he says. "Well," I said, somewhat out of breath still, "this is high." I think I said "Wow" again.... seemed like all I could say. "Where were your seats before?" he asks. "Well, in 227... it was nice there." "Well, there's always something a little lower and closer" he says. "Yeah, but I suppose my seniroity doesn't count for much anymore" I said. "Well, let's go down and take a look. Maybe I can do something for you with your seniority. " Now he has my attention and afterall, there's no place to go now but down. So we go back down. Along the way, of course, he asks, "If you wanted a PSL, where would you like to sit?"

The Closing Booth: Along the way back down, I'm looking at some areas that would be nice to sit in... better, certainly, than my 342 seats. For a moment (or many minutes, really), I'm dreaming again... of what it would have been like, what I had imagined I would wind up with... something not so removed from the field. I longed for my old seats, having sat in them for 25 years. I wanted something where I could "feel" the field again. Some of the seats I looked at could give you that feel, but many otheres still did not. That feeling of being a part of the field, not distant and removed from it, like 342 seemed. I'm led to a cubicle without windows... nothing in it but a small conference table, and with the door closed, it's one-on-one. "What section interests you?" he opens. So I show him a few areas. "Let me see what I can do!" he says, and leaves me alone in the conference room.

The Reality: While he's gone I'm saying to myself, "What the fuck are you doing?" All the many threads I posted here about avoiding the PSLs are going through my head. Finally, he comes back and shows me some seats I could live with. I will not discuss the seats nor will I reveal my reps name, but the seats were okay, let's put it that way. Just okay though... nothing like "Hey Wow, I gotta have this." I decide to shift gears into what I want to talk about.

The Parking: "Going back to my seats in the Pepsi Corner, what if I want to stay in 342... what's up with the horrible parking?" I asked. "What do you mean," he plays dumb. "Well. there's no parking over on that side of the stadium for me... I have to park around the other side of the stadium and walk... plus it's on the other side of 210. "There plenty of parking over at the Pepsi Corner," he says. "There is? I ask, as I show him where the orange lots are. "Oh, you mean parking for the Uppers," he says. I'm saying to myself, "No dumbass, parking for the fucking tennis matches." "Yeah," I say, I selected my seats in the Pepsi Corner so I could get out of that corner and leave quickly." "Well, if you want a PSL, you would have plenty of parking," he says. "Look," I said, "Is there any chance the Jets will reconsider where the orange lots are located? This is REALLY inconvenient." "No, the parking lots are going to remain just as they are." he tells me.

The Ultimate Question: By now I'm ready to pop the ultimate question. "The parking thing has really got me upset with my seats... I guess it's the seats but more than that, the parking is horrendous in relation to where they are. Will the Jets give me a refund for the 2010 season if I cancel right now? "A refund?" he says. "Yeah, can I get my money back?" "Well, no," he says, but they will give you a credit toward your PSL if you want to buy one and all the money will go toward it. And don't forget, you'll have free parking for a year and no money down and first payment not until January, 2011.

The Aftermath: I sat there staring at the paper with the orange maps on it, recalling how much of a hassle it was to get to my seats much less parking on the other side of 120 on game day. "You look like you need some time to think about those seats I showed you," he says. "You probably want to talk to your wife." "You're right," I tell him. "I'll call you on Monday," he tells me. So I leave and get home in time to have lunch with my wife. And of course she says, "How did it go?" So I told her. I don't want to get here hopes up, so I told here how high the seats are... really high. And I'm concerned about my grandkids... the steepness of the grade up there. And yes, I can watch the game from up there, but I don't have that same "feel" for the field that I had with the old stadium. I felt removed... removed is the word, like I'm in an airplane or something, looking down. It's going to take some getting used to, along with the walking and climbing. Beaucoup walking and climbing. "I'm really pissed," my wife says. "Are you really thinking about the PSL? How much would it be?" "Well, $20,000 for 4 seats," I told her. "I've got to be out of my mind. I was like a kid in a candy store, but that's way too much." Then we both agreed this is insanity. The PSLs and the ticket prices. Ridiculous waste of money.

The Final Straw: As I was leaving the new stadium, I'm walking back to Lot E where my car is parked. And I look up to my right, and there's the remains of Giants Stadium, half up and half down on the ground. And don't you know, my old section is still standing there, perched precariously waithing for the jaws to bite into it and crumble it into pieces. And for one final moment I stood there remembering all the great times my family had for 25 years in that same spot... all the thrills, the wins and the agony of the defeats. And most of all, the "feel" for the field.... something most people will not have in this new monstrosity.
