It jumped right off the page when I logged on. I like the sticky idea. Big Mehl, you will be able to buy whole season tickets from someone selling at face value come 2010 and beyond. I know the whole thing stinks but if you really are a fan and don't/can't/will not pay the PSL, there will be other ways to make the games.
yeah it will probably be good. i am one of those that dont tend to look at the stickies as they dont change too often. i got lucky this caught my eye for some reason.... had i went and not found this thread i may have jumped out my window its probably me that is the issue with the sticky

The person from whom a friend and I have been buying season tickets for many years just offered us tickets "in a similar location" in the new stadium for 2010 at face value. This guy's been really good to us, and this offer is very tempting. It's a way to get into the stadium without paying a PSL and sitting in the lower part of the upper deck, albeit near a corner. I'm pretty sure I'm saying no, though. I finally have seats in my own name this year, and this is now the second year in a row continuing to buy from this guy has complicated my situation. I'm still torn on whether or not I'll spring for PSLs when I finally get offered seats. I was back to thinking I would recently, but then had another conversation with the realtor yesterday which has me a bit shell shocked I know I'll want to be at the stadium when it finally opens, but we'll see.
As my decision day approached, I said to myself, "I'm going to have to make a decision on that day. Why not eliminate the stress and make the decision beforehand?" So I sat down with my own thoughts one more time and reviewed it all... Lousy seats (or no seats at all) vs. a PSL. Then I remembered what I had posted several times about the resales. And I still believe this - that PSLs will be available in abundance in March of 2011. It's not that far away. Taking that into consideration takes a lot of the pressure off. Don't feel like you HAVE TO buy now or forever be shut out. If you don't buy now it's not an opportunity that won't present itself again in the future. There are going to be PSLs available to buy, maybe some very nice ones, for many reasons. So, whatever you decide, remember that if you have a lousy seniority date, don't feel like you have to buy into a lousy PSL (upper Mezz EZ at the same price as lower Mezz EZ, for example). You'll have other oportunities to buy a PSL there (maybe at face or below face), and maybe the seats will be even better than what you would have bought into right now. Armed with that, the decision is easier. That's where I came up with my plan: If I can get into the Uppers, fine. If not, I'm walking for now and we'll see what happens.
Thanks! That is some good perspective. I have a feeling some of this will be made very simple for me. If I close on a house and book wedding ceremonies before the Jets contact me, I'm going to be much more price-sensitive....
Let me finish that sentence for you (LOL): "... but if the Jets contact me before I close on the house or book my wedding ceremonies, all bets are off, I'll grab my PSLs and I'm sure my future bride will completely understand."
Haha - exactly. I'm thinking of this as similar to Presidential pardons before the end of a term. Whatever I can get squeeze in before those things happen, fine. After those happen, I guess the rules will have to change and approvals will become much more difficult
Oh yes. Here are the priorities, in order: 1) Purchase house 2) Have baby 3) New kitchen 4) Deck out back 5) Have baby 6) New addition to house 7) New carpeting in baby rooms 8) New car 9) HDTV for watching Jets games, "but nothing that we can't afford!" 10) "Jets tickets if we hit the lottery for more than $1 Million"
has anyone figured out the price of a $4000 PSL over 15 years with interst? it was $390 a year for 14 years.
Does anyone know what the stipulations are with a PSL sale. Would the new owner assume the financing plan that you had setup. Or would the Jets in their greed want full payment on the sale. If they want full payment , it would severly limit PSL resales as buyers would need to fork over large amounts of cash up-front. Can anyone who has purcahsed a PSL already speak to this situation.
you continue the prvious agreement. if there is 12 years and say $4000 left on the contract you assume that payment plan from the previous season ticket owner.also what he charges you to buy from him. the previous owner must also pay off that years payment which is due dec 1st right before xmas ha ha oh fuck you woody
I went by the number of $389 that was posted on the stadium website. But, to be sure, if they can get an additional $15 per seat, they will find a way.
But the original owner also has outlayed either 10% or 20% as a downpayment, so that will have to be a factor in any post-PSL sale.. in addition to a (yet to be disclosed) Jets transfer fee. I think the Jets will be marketing a PSL calculator for $99..right around Christmas.
Let's not forget that the PSL is a depreciating asset, much like an automobile. The older the stadium becomes, the less value the PSL has. And the new buyer does not buy into the seniority date... it'll be a transfer to his name, but with the current date of the transfer, so that is not a "value factor" when buying someone else's PSL, and therefore will not affect the price positively. It's going to be much like selling a car with an assumable chattel on it. You arrive at a price for it for whatever you can get and then, depending upon how much is owned, the seller either walks away with positive cash or, in some cases, might actually have to cough up cash to the buyer to get out from underneath the PSL obligation. If a business partnership dissolves, for example, and the business has to unload 4 Jets PSLs as part of the liquidation, the price the PSLs bring will all depend on what they can get for them in short order. Same thing with a divorce... virtually a fire sale. Some of these PSL holders are going to be lucky to just walk away from the debt and leave any principle they've invested behind in the dust. It wouldn't surprise me to see eBay auctions that state: "4 PSLs in the Mezz End Zone for sale for less than what was paid for them in 2009 ($4,000 each). Buyer to assume remaining payments to NY Jets of $3,000 each plus make payments for this year's tickets. Minimum bid for the PSLs only: $3,000 each."
PSL holders have to hope the Jets go on a tear, winning titles. That is if they hope to recoup their cost soon upon selling.
if i had stayed with my 3rd row mezz endzone seats, it would have been $4800 annually for 3 seats. not including parking pass and increase in ticket price.
And you would have been locked into that, come what may. I am currently paying the same $4800 for 4 seats in the Mezz Sideline. My 4 seats in the new stadium will cost me $4200, and again, I can walk away at any time. There's a lot to be said for that kind of peace of mind.
