At least the injury-laden Mets squad made the play-in game? (Not exactly the brightest spot, but it's something?)
Oops I did forget about them , I am sorry but they are a very forgettable franchise. Nothing personal against them, but they have no identity to me since the moved to Brooklyn.
The Yankees are coming back up. Us Jays fans could see the window closing in that last series played. My prediction is the pinstripes will back on top in 2018.
Pats will host a home playoff game next season. Foregone conclusion. As long as the afc east remains, with the current teams and BB as the head coach of the Pats .... New England will have at least 1 home playoff game every season. The afc east offers no challenge to BBs cheating pats. BB owns Bills, Phins and our lowly Jets (who share a "home" stadium w/ giants...giants stadium ii or insert "visiting" teams stadium).
I will say this. It's hard to remember feeling more hopeless that I will see a Jets championship in my lifetime.
The Mighty Quinn had a hand in the gift-wrapping of two VLT's for the Pats - the two that the Giants took from them. That's as (un)impressive as any Jets coach. He must hate them as much as anyone. Two rings - poof! Still can't believe they tried throwing the ball 3rd and one just inside FG range. Unbelievable.
Honestly I do agree with you. I went from being a very interested fan to losing interest with the move to Brooklyn. Just not the same
Not sure what your age is but sometimes things like this just happen. I remember watching the Atlanta Braves on top of the NL East for almost as long as the Pats have been atop the AFC East. Then the pitching finally went away and the Mets had a chance again and they were in a World Series before long. Tom Brady is going to retire at some point. Until then we're not going to be that competitive. You either have your guy or not. Bringing in a vet to be your guy doesn't work all that well, you need to grow him in house and know he'll be the face of the franchise for 10 years. Watching the Jets over most of the last 16 seasons has been depressing as hell but without the Pats riding high atop the division the competition would have been better and we'd all be a lot less frustrated. Well, having the Fins win more than the one division title would have really sucked, but still...
I still bemoan the Colts being removed from the AFC East. Should have been the Bills. If the Colts and Pats had had to battle each other two or three times a year instead of each coasting to 13+ win seasons and playing each other in the playoffs, BOTH the AFC East and the AFC South would have been a lot more interesting for the past couple decades. *The Colts were obviously the right team to move, but the timing just sucked. Unless you're a Colts or Pats fan, anyway. Anybody would have loved to watch those two play over watching the Colts/Titans or Pats/Bills, right?
The 1-15 season was worse. But yeah, what a bad year for the NY teams. Mets were the only highlight of my year and they came close but blew that playoff game at the last minute. I don't count the Vagiants. The Rangers have been decent but not great, they are the one team I have hope for this winter/spring. The Mets can't start soon enough!!
Next year is kind of a win-win regardless. If they exceed expectations we get to enjoy a good year. If they flop again, there should be at least two or three promising QB's coming out in 2018.
During the Rex era I always had a glimmer of hope due to the AFC title games. But with Bowles theres nothing to hold onto ,theres zero hope right now.If he would have beaten the Bills last year and made the playoffs id feel diffrently but all hope is offically lost and the franchise is in a dark place. And to think before the season started we were ranked 7th thru 10th on all power rankings.
There's no doubt the 2017 season is going to be VERY hard to watch. The Jets still have no answers at QB first and foremost. But even further down the line, the secondary is horrible, the DL is a total disappointment with the lone exception of Leonard Williams, the linebackers are horrible. Mac has drafted 3 linebackers now and every one of them suck. Darron Lee was a horrible choice and a complete miss in regards to fit. The OL is way too old and decrepit. It was this unit where the 5-11 season all started for me. They have ZERO for TE's. I am really beginning to wonder what in the world is Woody thinking holding on to toilet and Mac? They have shown nothing in the way of being able to build a team. This is the same old play for many years now.
