I had no idea the Chargers traded him to New England and then shifted him to safety...

    Talk about an all-star defense.

I think Brady is a great QB clearly he Palmer and Manning outclass the rest of the field by miles. Brady is a sure HOF lock. The Pats are a team in decline and the likelyhood that Brady will have a run like he did with almost no mistakes isn't likely.

By the way he had a great running game last year and he played with two outstanding TE. While his WR weren't that good, he had an excellent OL an excellent pass catching RB and TE and over all one of the most talented Offenses in the NFL.

Winston.. How can you sound so football savy in one thread, and so idiotic in another? Where is this decline? Clearly Brady can't win the Superbowl every single year.. That's an unreasonable expectation. Brady had his team a half of football away from going to another SB, possibly winning last year with the "talent" he had on offense last year. As a Pats fan, I'm happy that they are atleast in the mix every year.. Key word "Mix".. Brady's worst year, is probably Pennington's best year.. That's my opinion.. Wishfull thinking.. huh..

The reason I sound both Savy and Idiotic to you at the same time is you are a band wagon Pats homer. The Pats are in the mix but the aren't as good as they were on either side of the ball or in their staff. All I'm saying is they have slipped a little and frankly all the FA signings aren't going to make you what you once were. Being in the mix is different than being the best and your team peaked a few years ago.

I'm for replacing Pennington now and taking our lumps with a rookie. Brady is much better than Pennington, the Jets haven't won 3 SB with Pennington have they? The Pats haven't won any SB since they don't have Vinitari, McGinist, Brown, Weiss, Crennell and a few others.

That seems to be the generic answer for any Pats fan.. "Bandwagon".. Cmon.. I'm from the ole school.. Hannah, Grogan, Coates.. etc.. "signings aren't going to make you what you once were" .. How do you know? There hasn't been one game played.. Who knows .. They could be worse.. That question can't be answered at this time.. Yet again, they could be better..

Ah, now we get to the real fun part of the discussion. Where's the decline? For years I watched a lot of Pats fans thumb their noses at Dungy and Manning for not clutching in the playoffs while Brady and the Pats' D performed like a well-oiled clutching machine.

winstonbiggs is right, the decline is right there for everyone to see. They had the Colts beat and then laid down for them like, um... the Colts did for the Pats so many times. Any argument about lack of talent in the wideout corps is basically negated by the Pats winning in 2001 with mostly blue-collar talent. If talent meant Super Bowls, the Bucs would have had their own dynasty.

And... LOL! IN THE MIX!?!?! You know how many times I've seen Pats fans fresh off a Super Bowl victory ridicule Jets fans and fans of some perennial playoff teams for showing any form of contentment for playoff games? Forget that, buddy, you're not allowed to be happy about being 'in the mix' after a dynasty. It's carved on the walls of the inner sanctum of the Great Pyramid of Giza, it is known.

I'm not allowed to be happy about being in the mix? Since when? Stop it Abyzmul.. You know better than that.. This notion that Pats fans believe it's their god given right to win the SB is crazy.. Yeah, there are some nuts out there, but I can only speak for myself.. Again, we'll see how it plays out this year.. They could be worse than years past or way better.. Week 1 is around the corner..
