Scenario 1: You take Jax #8 spot for a first, a second and next years 5th. If Sanchez is there when you pick you call the Washington Redskins and tell them you are willing to trade the pick for a 1st, and next years 2nd and 5th... and all of a sudden you moved from #17 to #13 while loosing almost nothing... ta daaaaaa Otherwise if they don't do it you take Sanchez and are happy anyways... Scenario 2: If Sanchez isn't there you take one between Crabtree and Raji and I think they are both worth a 1st and a 2nd... mind you there will be some teams interested in them so they might want to trade up (this years first and this/next years second?)
Did he play 85% of the snaps? If so thats the only way we got the 3rd. Also I was wondering... Did we ever get a pick from the Kendall trade? I think we were supposed to get a 2009 4th for Kendall if he played 80% of his snaps.
So you want to spend this years 2nd round pick to move up 4 spots in the first round? Thank God you will never be an NFL GM.
On a side note, the mere fact that this is being kicked around isn't exactly a vote of confidence for Clemens and Ratliff, eh? I had a feeling Rex was blowing smoke last week in that press conference.
Oh boy. I don't watch College Football and never have seen him play, but he's all over the place on TV and seems to me like a total hype machine. We have a QB, his name is Clemens, we need TE, RB, OL and WR's. And don't tell me a junior out of college is better bet to be our QB then someone who's been working in this system for 4 years, has game experience and the confidence of his team
Actually, the fact that its being discusssed, means we have no interest in a QB, we are not moving up, and will probably move back.
Nope, I'm getting a 2nd next year by the redskins so I'm not throwing away a 2nd... and maybe it will be more useful because after one full season with the team Rex will understand better what are the needs.
I don't look at it like that in terms of "losing" the 5th round pick. Yes the third rounder in terms of any value is gone from Favre. But we came away with Lito Sheppard because of that 5th round pick, solving a HUGE need at the second corner position. You don't count him as part of the draft class but he's an acquisition that came through the draft. All in all I wouldn't be opposed if it got us Sanchez or Crabtree. The two are elite talents. Simple as that. I know most on this board aren't high on Sanchez. He's a stud. And drafting him doesn't necessarily give up on the idea that there's a QB on this roster. Unless this team is 3-10 or there's an insane amount of injuries Sanchez will NOT start until he is ready.
I am not sold on Sanchez... he played 1 freakin year!! He had a GREAT team around him in a poor conference... JMHO but he is more of an "if" player than alot of people think! Would he be getting this attention if he was not a USC QB?? I dont think so...
IMO, there's no prospect that logically should on the Jets board that will be there at 13 but gone by 17. Not worth it.
Jets picks in '09 http://www.nfl.com/draft/story?id=09000d5d80eef17e&template=without-video-with-comments&confirm=true Day 1 17, 52 & 76 Day 2 115, 193, 228
Im all for Sanchez because we share the same name. After that i dont care if we draft him or not. I just want his jersey if he is on the Jets. Do i think we should take him? Not really.
Wishful thinking on your part. Nothing personal, but Clemens just isn't the man for the job. Let's not get into this discussion here again, that horse has been beat to death - but all signs point to Sanchez wearing green and white in 09'.
