As others have said, I don't care abdout the W/L in preseason. I DO care about whether the team is jelling and improving. By Game 3, against our perpetual crosstown rival, we should see something approaching regular season form from the starters. Is that what we saw? If so, that doesn't bode well for the regular season. We all knew that the OL and pass rush would be mediocre, at best, but I for one was hopeful that there would be some measurable improvement over last year. I mean there were some personnel changes, and new coaches, a change to zone blocking, and so on. But for all of that, not much seems to have changed...sort of like the deck chairs were rearranged, but the name on the ship is still Titanic. (Incidentally, the original name of the Jets was the Titans - coincidence?). Anyway, maybe Bowles & Co, were just playing things close the vest, and keeping the REAL improvements under wraps to surprise everyone in the regular season. But the old saying "You play like you play like you practice" comes to mind, and if the preseason is considered "practice", we're not going to see much difference when it counts. I'm thrilled at Darnold's development, and it looks like we FINALLY have that FQB we've been waiting decades for, but I'm troubled that the same issues this team has had under Bowles are still there.
The preseason isn't meaningless. The W/L records basically are, but the preseason is important to determine who can play, what schemes/plays work, etc. By Game 3, vs. the Giants, I would expect to see performances close to regular season from the starters (and CS). you are exactly right. trying to generate a pass rush by blitzing safeties, corners, or linebackers is risky and leaves part of the secondary vulnerable. the long pass last noght over the left cprner was becuse he had no safety help deep, he was blitzing. the special teams looked like absolute dog doo doo, and the o-line was just as bad. they should cut down to 43 players right now, and then scan the waiver wire for ten guys who can actually play, since we only have one average, at best, left tackle and no pass rushers.

Why do you call it knee jerk reaction? I didn't say sky was falling. All I did was to point the ineptness I saw on the field and on the sidelines. Please my friend. Don't try to provoke people. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. This is a forum. Knee jerk reactions are part of the deal. People will be emotional and they will express their thoughts.
Most of what you say is accurate and I agree with but I have a serious issue with this team's poor ST play and the amount of penalties. IMHO this team should be crisper and they aren't ...
