I'm surprised it took this far into the thread before somebody listed Kenny O. I was too little to remember that one, but the impression I get is that it was the most upsetting pick in the history of football.
I don't follow College game enough to "hate" picks but I really, really went ape shit over Hackensack. God...what a horrible pick.
no, it really wasn't. People forget that at the time, Marino was shrouded in doubt due to alleged drug use. The Jets weren't the only ones to pass on him. I remember there was a lot of articles out there say O'brien was pretty decent.
Yes, it was. This was way before the draft had so much coverage. Nobody saw this coming as O'Brien was on nobody's radar. Then to have Marino right there for the taking, the ultimate bang for your bargain pick. Mike Hickey picked O'Brien. people were screaming who is this guy, where the heck is UC Davis. The Jets curse is evolving and fluid. Can it happen again? This video is hard to watch. Its amazing how they have gotten it so wrong so many times.
I’ve said before, it’s Gilligan’s island, you know they’re not getting off the island you just don’t know how they screw it up this week.
2017 All-Rookie Team (Pro Football Writers of America) Offense Quarterback: Deshaun Watson, Houston Texans Defense Safety: Jamal Adams, New York Jets Safety: Marcus Williams, New Orleans Saints Jamal Adams: started all 16 games (all-rookie team). Pat Mahomes: appeared in 1 game at the end of the season (0 Tds, 1 Int). Moving along to this year: Tanner Lee QB Nebraska
Least favorite: Dee Milliner - Didn't want a CB, I wanted Warmack. We desperately needed the o-line help. Christian Hackenberg - Wanted a player who wouldn't suck. Tyler Boyd or Cyrus Jones Most favorite: Adams and Maye
Favourite Revis - the best football player we’ve ever drafted KJ - was the saviour and key building block Sanchez - wiffed hard there Least favourite Nugent - why? Coples - why again Brady - why 3.0
Hated- Robertson Geno Couples Goulston Loved- Mangold, Brick, Pennington Revis Loved but turned out bad- Amaro Milner Mitchell D. Smith
I've written about this many times on this board, but my least favorite pick was Hackenberg. As a Penn State fan, I knew firsthand how awful he was, and consequently, I was extremely pissed that we wasted a 2nd round draft pick on him. As for being hyped, I remember being super-hyped for Keyshawn back in the day. I was also a big believer in Sanchez on draft night.
Does 2nd Round count? Then my least favorite was Geno Smith. I knew he had no chance in the NFL as I watched a lot of WVU. Also knew it meant they were giving up on Sanchez. Favorite Pick: Jamal Adams and Leonard Williams dropping to the Jets.
Based on draft night itself, I think the 2013 draft annoyed me more than anything else. I thought Dee Milliner was a horrible pick at the time. I understood that we traded Revis and Rex loved his CBs, but I didn't think Dee was worthy of the #9, especially when we desperately needed oline help and Warmack, Fluker and Pugh were still on the board. Then when we picked Sheldon after that, I was like "WTF", when Long, Eifert, Pugh and Reid were on the board. I knew he was talented and it was lucky that he fell, but they drafted Dline with their first round picks the previous 2 years in a row. I was yelling at the TV. Then the next night they pick Geno Smith and I'm rioting throwing stuff around my apartment. That draft had so much hype to it and then the picks were just terrible. Imagine what could have been if we instead drafted Warmack, Eifert and Le'veon Bell? So all three of my least favorite picks happened in the same draft. I have to think a bit harder for my favorites.
