Maybe we did not watch the same season. Coen for example confused the shit out of our defense with various play action schemes and motions. We were biting hard and they had guys open all day. All of the sudden 2024 team MVP Sherwood looks like PS scrub all year, All Pro Quincy is benched. Of course players are the ones who have to execute and a lot of it is on them, but a lot is on coaches too. It's a combination of both. The players you mentioned are find, but they don't strike the fear in opponents hearts any longer. There is no doubt in my mind this team would look a lot better under Vrabel or any other competent coach.
A guy like Vrabel...he would have those underperforming players doing burpees until the puke was running out their noses if they performed, on a consistent basis, the way they perform under Glenn.
I don't understand how people still defend Glenn at this point. I get it there was a small stretch where we won a couple of meaningless games with STs to ruin our draft position (the usual Jets shit HC special), you could defend the guy a little bit I guess, but not now. Some people just can't admit they are wrong. I am afraid Woody is one of these people too...
Bullshit. And your rationale is EXACTLY WHY this team blows monkey ass. I don't give a FUCK if a player is making $200 million, if they are rolling their asses out there and putting on the kinds of display I see our players doing, on a week by week basis, you'll do the fucking burpees or you won't be on the god damn team. What, because they are pro's you don't discipline them? Hell man, if we had the KIND of players that took care of business you wouldn't have fans making comments like doing burpees. Get what I'm saying?
I misunderstood, I thought you meant our Xs and Os were fine, as it is basically players that make the biggest difference not coaches. But even Vrabel though, you don't go from #22 defense to #6 without great coaching. Or from #30 to #7 on offense. The players you listed are fine, but do not account for 10 extra wins. We have to give credit where credit is due, and Vrabel deserves a lot of credit for the turnaround they had. If Woody fired Bob a year earlier, it could have been us reaping benefits. But the dumbass is always too late.
I think Cook starting was the team admitting they were tanking the season in the name of "let's see what all these young guys can do." Not that the team they assembled in the offseason was designed to be all that competitive to begin with. A bust Cinderella candidate and an injury prone career backup at QB. Diamond in the rough type FA replacement players that may have been overpaid by a bunch. I did like the DTs but even they were late in the game. I think it's even possible that the Jets were hoping that Sauce and Quinnen could boost their trade value during the season or they would have traded them before the season started. Aside from AG's bluster, I didn't see very many signs that the Jets were going to try to win enough games to compete in 2025.
It's not bullshit at all - you are living in the dark ages. Your ego is getting in the way of your understanding the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the players' union. You also are clueless about how adults expect to be treated by their employers in general, whether they make $200 million a year or twenty dollars an hour. The first coach who did what you propose would be out of work before the first punitive exercise even started. Talk about "losing the locker room" - sheesh!
It's comical people think the Jets are tanking!! Do you really believe this team as bad as they've been for decades, is choosing to be terrible, they just fucking suck
Cryogenics is for peasants. Woody sleeps in large membrane filled with the tears of Jets fans. He's actually 200.
Here is what I think happened. Glenn came in wanting to win now and to make fans proud. Fields was the QB whom he thought was not coached properly and whom he could coach up. He shitted all over Bob saying the team was good but needed coaching. Resigned players he wanted. He then tried to win, like he thought he would, but couldn't do it and shit the bed in the epic fashion worse than any other Jets coach in the history of the franchise. By the time trade deadline came, we traded two players, got major assets, and he changed the narrative saying he didn't mean that the fans would be proud of the team now, but later. That we are actually rebuilding. At that time things were so bad many fans here (and I can find these posts) thought he was tanking also. But then we win a couple of games (which might really bite us in the ass) and these same people then said, no this was not a tank, the ship is turning, we got ourselves a coach. We then get blown out by Miami, who is not that good, and Jax. Then bad Saints team. Now the people are saying, actually we are tanking. And you know what maybe now Glenn will change the narrative again and actually will tank. But these losses to Miami and Jax, this was not tank, and I don't even think Saints was the tank. He fired Wilks and tried to shake things up a bit. But definitely not Miami and Jax. Now things look so bad, Glenn might as well tank. It could be a little too late as damage was already done by the only functional unit on the team: STs against Browns and Atlanta. But I do not believe for a second this was a tank all along. The evidence is overwhelmingly against it. Last couple of games, sure, I'll bite. But vast majority of the season and really the whole year overall it was such awful coaching job that was so bad, it just looked like an intentional tank.
Players and coachs don't tank, ever. Organizations may put them in position to fail for a better pick but unless the players have completely given up on the coach they don't tank, they are all in it for themselves and that $, tanking doesn't help furure contracts.
I agree. My point is, this was not a tank all along, it just wasn't. Last two games if you tell me Tyrod is now healthy and you are still starting Cook I'll bite, I will give benefit of the doubt, because it does not really matter. But overall this was not a tank job. It was such a horrible coaching job all year that some hard core Jets fans thought it was a tank, and that's really all you need to know about this coaching staff.
of course it wasn't a tank "all along." You dont go into week 1 trying to tank. Why even make this point when nobody is arguing otherwise?
LOL. You out of all people responded to this? You thought it was a tank before we actually won a few games, then thought ship was turning. Sit this one out.
