He needs to get smarter with the ball, and fast, or he’s going to get eaten alive in conference play. It’s only half-time and he has four INTs in two games. I only saw one of them. Plenty of time, beautiful throw - two feet over the WR’s head.
I don’t know if Mateer is an NFL starting QB, but he’s the kind of guy who makes me believe he can make a play when a play needs to be made. First series he did just that. Since then, the OK offense and special teams have done everything they can to keep Michigan in this game.
I’m souring on Mateer. He throws the ball like he’s looking at a shooting video game and as soon as he can see some movement he fires regardless of what’s there. I’ll wait for more games to give my official judgement although I saw the same shit at Wazzou.
Might be one of those guys who’s just fun to watch in college. He has like four throwing styles and I’ve yet to see his side-arm throw lead to good things. Off-topic - Michigan players with 30 helmet stickers in Week Two is stupid and wrong.
As a fan of Wazzu, I watched a lot of his games. If I am a GM, I am looking at Mateer or Sellars. The biggest knock on Mateer is his size
https://x.com/JonHelmkamp/status/1964430020488704266 They haven’t exactly been playing the 2000 Ravens so far this year but Moore has a big time arm with an effortless motion. I’d guess he stays another year at Oregon but it’ll be interesting to see if he ends up on first round boards. Sawyer Robertson at Baylor is going to get some looks too. He’s already putting on gaudy numbers and if they win games he could be a Heisman guy with how many yards he’s going to throw for.
