Or it's possible no one they interviewed envisioned being successful while being handcuffed with the Rodgers contract.

I agree, it is all possible. Looking at the facts, considering that they brought Glenn and Newmark at the same time, spent all day together, did not schedule any other interviews, then gave Glenn an offer I think we can conclude that they likely envisioned these two as the pairing.

However they clearly prioritized Glenn between the two, and yes, to GQM's point, if Glenn was thinking to bring AR back and Newmark was saying no, it could have been his downfall, among many other things. To me it is clear they did not agree on something significant, causing to expand the search. Which may not be a bad thing.

It could have been the other way too, maybe Newmark wanted Rodgers and Glenn didn't. We really don't know what caused Newmark to fall out, just that something did. Dick Chimney has a cool article about it: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43525976/new-york-jets-pairing-new-gm-coach-aaron-glenn

"Glenn got hired since, while Newmark has not as of now. He remains a candidate, according to a team source, but it certainly appears as if the Jets have shifted their focus to Brown and Mougey, two of the original 15 candidates that were interviewed." "He hasn't worked with Mougey or Brown, neither of whom has GM experience, but know this: Glenn and Brown have been friends for a couple of years." "Mougey has an indirect connection to Glenn -- Broncos coach Sean Payton, Glenn's former boss with the Saints." So, it appears the Jets now found a couple of more connections to Glenn and are interviewing these.

What do you guys think of Brown? Also young like Mougey. Background seems VERY diverse. From scout in NE and Philly to AAF and XFL (both Leagues collapsed) to the Bengals last 4 years. Was a part of SB team in NE and Cincy when they made SB, though both times as a scout. Also it seems like he may have been actually let go by Philly if I read this correctly: https://www.bleedinggreennation.com...ecutive-trey-brown-alliance-american-football .
"Brown’s name was quietly omitted from the Eagles’ front office roster a few weeks ago in a rush of restructures and promotions."

Looks like another GM spot opened up - Jags fired their GM after Liam Coen said he did not want to work with him and would stay with the Bucks instead. Liam will be the HC of the Jags soon. Fantastic hire for them, that's the guy I wanted. Shit, and I was hoping they would end up with Saleh. Gotta give credit to their owner though it was a pretty bold move to fire the GM and still get his guy at HC after he said he was staying.

Looking at these 3 candidates deeper, I think I would only be OK with Mooge from Denver. Not exactly like Halaby and Borganzi who looked like are slam dunks, but someone where there is some hope. Young guy, former College QB turned WR who was hired by Elway and did see two SB appearances, including a victory early, and kept getting promoted by Denver. Assistant GM for last 3 years in Denver. They did have 8 year play-off drought, but ended this year, and seemed to have drafted really well. Sean Payton likes him too. Would be good to see a few more years of experience, but feels like compared to others there is a solid resume with potential.

Like Newmark, I am a bit scared by Trey Brown, though for different reasons. Newmark was because of seeing 25 years of losing in Detroit and finally last two years of success, and immediately he up for GM after being stagnant for so long. Trey, looks like was fired from Philly after being director of scouting. Then was out of NFL for two years and worked for two lesser football organizations, not even NFL, and came back as a scout to Cincy. Basically back to square one 4 years ago. Was promoted to sr personnel executive there years back, and Cincy has not really been drafting well, and went to championship game 3 years ago, but failed to make play-offs last two years, with Joe Burrow, who is a top 5 QB in fold. And maybe it is unfair to Newmark and Trey, but I am personally pretty worried if they are GMs.

Hoping Jets will pick Denver guy out of the choices, he seems to have the least risk and most potential out of the group, and could be a decent overall selection.

    Chris Spielman please.
It’s time we change how we do things.

We haven’t had a problem hiring respectable coaches, but most haven’t had a shot with scouts running the team without strategic vision or accountability.

About 80% of an NFL's team revenue stems from TV money and team sponsors. Only 20% is attributed to ticket sales and concessions/parking.

Even if every single fan boycotted every game, the Jets would still make approximately $510 million annually - according to 2023 figures; 2024 was probably greater.

    Don't watch, doesn't matter. Don't go, doesn't matter.

You guys don't get it, if fans stop showing up to games and the stadiums are empty in one of the biggest markets in the Nfl, That effects the leagues bottom line, and they will find a way to force Woody out. It's all about money. That's why they gave the Jets so many prime time games this season to make money right? If they losing money because the fans stop caring in one of the biggest markets Woody will be forced out, never going to happen because its a piple dreams.

Bro. I get that you're frustrated. But what you are saying doesn't make much sense.

The LEAGUE makes its money through television contracts. If MetLife is empty on a Sunday afternoon or Monday night, it has ZERO impact on that contract. I believe they split $13 billion a year between the 32 teams.

Plus, even if every Jets fan boycotted, you would still get tens of thousands of fans from the opposing team to show up.

i know this is too much to ask. But any chance we can stay focused on the main topic of the thread instead of derailing every single one into random rabbit trails as too how much we hate Woody and how pathetic the Jets will always be no matter what changes we make to the organization. Sorry I had to ask.

Absolutely not. Yeah, it gets tiresome to see the same few names show up on every thread with the same tired whining multiple times a day with never an explanation of how they think things could be handled differently but we are here to discuss everything about the Jets and the NFL; censoring messages will not make this a better place.

Some people here have tried to censor reality for years - some wanted everyone to support Gase; many demanded only good things to be said about Zach Wilson and we were all told by some that if we couldn't support Aaron Rodgers we should find another team to root for. Saleh was the savior - how dare anyone question his mantra?

Guess who got those things right? And how many of the "Positive Vibes Only" receipt takers came back to man up and admit they were the ones who got it all wrong? No, all voices must be heard, even the whiners who bring nothing to the table that hasn't been heard the same way before ad nauseum.

Former college QB, Assistant GM on Denver that was part of scouting / drafting Bo Nix and transforming them into a playoff team.
