You should be flagged for coming into a thread about our defense to bitch & moan about our offense. 15 yards and loss of down!
I guess you forgot the 3 and out to start the 2nd half, plus the terrible punt that put the ball on the Dallas 40yd line for their first possession of the 2nd half. ...and the Jets D holding them to 3 points. Again three 3 and outs to the start the game, I'm calling it that because it was Fake punt that got us the first down on the 3rd possession. The Jets D played fine.
And not to mention the Dalvin Cook fumble on the 2nd possession in the 2nd half – the Jets D holds the offense and they score a 55yd FG to add 3 points to the board. So that's 6 points to start the half where the offense shat the bed to start the half and put the D in a terrible position. If Zach Wilson hits Wilson at end of the half to go 18-14, but scurried in the pocket when if he just stands strong and delivers a strike it’s 18-14 game.
Dallas drove the ball at will on 4 of their first 6 non kneel down drives before the defense got tired though I believe.. If they are already getting tired in the first half or early in 3rd than we got bigger issues.
Watching the game tape is infuriating. The Jets had Dallas pinned back to the goal line (I forget the exact situation). Ceedee Lamb hits a slant for like 40 yards. Who was in coverage? Sherwood lol. You can't make this stuff up. Oh, and Lamb fumbles and a Dallas OLineman recovers the ball 40 yards downfield. They were outcoached in all facets of the game.
Perhaps Ulbrich should go up to the box to see and call the game, like Dan Quinn masterfully did vs us. His play calls make NO sense. Same shit as last year, identical. Oh , and let's SIT our #1 draft pick, a pass rusher, for a guy who does nothing. Dying to see how we play vs pats. Not holding my breath either.
THE JETS DEFENSE DID NOT...NOT..PLAY FINE. NO SACKS NO TURNOVERS EVERY 3RD AND LONG...COMPLETE SAFETIES ON WR. DISASTER
I know there's no need to pile on, but living in Wisconsin, that Center who recovered the fumble was taken in the 2020 draft as the last player of the 4th round, The NYJ took Cameron Clark 17 picks before him. That was the year we signed Connor Mcgovern to his way too big multiyear deal.
Have you all lost your minds. The NYJ Offense started on the NYJ 31 as their BEST starting position. Dallas started on NYJ side of the field on 3 positions. and near half field on 2 positions. Starting field position matters. Look at the drive summary. my gosh. Offense DID NOT move the ball.
AND THE DEFENSE ALLOWED 30 POINTS. THE DEFENSE WAS VERY ..DISAPPOINTING INDEED. SOMEONE BROKE DOWN ZACHS PLAYS PLAY BY PLAY. THE OL IS A DISASTER.
I think it was this site but I could’ve seen it elsewhere. Apparently someone asked Saleh why the defense can’t change up looks or something when things aren’t working and he said something along the lines of they’re not allowed to do that or we can’t do that. He basically gives his D no freedom whatsoever. It’s dumb and rigid.
They didn’t play fine. The usual dink and dunk over the middle killed us as it has for 20 years. Couldn’t get off the field on third down. Kudos for tightening up in the red zone, but they gave up a ton of yardage between the 20’s.
I disagree. Biadasz (a guy I was begging JD to draft), hustled his ass off. He had no reason to run the way he did other than to be ready for a potential fumble. It’s like a right fielder in baseball, technically he should be running over to backup throws to 1st base on every play. 99% of the time they don’t because 99% of the time the throw to first is accurate. The ones who hustle save the 1% at the expense of having to hustle 99% of the time for nothing. They make the sacrifice. Biadasz made the sacrifice while our players have their mentality in the 99% world. It’s lazy, if you’re not making the tackle and you’re in the vicinity you should always be aware and looking for the ball. It’s the same mentality that Garrett Wilson had celebrating Breece Hall’s run while the guy he should have been blocking ran by and caught Breece. We don’t finish, we’re not disciplined at all, and we don’t have that deep desire to do the little ugly things that need to be done on every play.
He said “that’s not our game or style” when asked why Sauce or Reed didn’t cover Lamb man to man when they kept moving him to the slot. Saleh said that’s just not how we play Defense. Saleh isn’t building an intelligent Defense, he’s trying to stack it with great players that can overwhelm the offense. The problem is we have some really good players, but I don’t see game changing greatness at any position right now, including Q and Sauce. Aaron Donald is greatness. Micah Parsons, Nick Bosa…. Those guys are greatness. Our guys are the next level down, they can be neutralized as we’ve now seen time and again. Calling a basic D with intent to overwhelm opponents with talent looks really bad really fast when the opponents are either equally or more talented, or much more intelligent to expose our weaknesses that Saleh stubbornly refuses to acknowledge or account for. Saleh would rather see us carved to pieces from the slot every week than adjust.
the D was on the field for 43 mins out of a 60min game and thats with dallas letting up at the end. they held up good for over 30 mins but got gassed eventually. It was a 1 possession game at halftime with the jets receiving the ball and we got blanked in the 2nd half. the fact we held them to all FGs in the 2nd half while gassed is pretty good. this falls on the O not the D
No one says they did so I don’t know why you are making that up. The defense doesn’t get a pass because the offense was dreadful. They both were bad. Giving up 30 points for a defense that is supposed to be top 5 shouldn’t rarely happen.
