The unknown looks more appealing in this case. Why? The Jets finished 7 and 9 and were without their QB and backup for several games. They also lost their both inside linebackers for the whole season. If Mehta thinks the unknown is a better bet what is his reason except that he has a personal agenda against Gase. Anyway you win with players so the coaches don't matter as media types and talk shows make it seem.
He reason could be that Gase has failed for 4 years as HC. Or that the offensive genius hasn't had an offense in the top half the league since he had a HoF QB calling his plays for him. Gase hasn't shown anything to prove he is ever going to be a good coach, and has had more chances. I don't necessarily think Giants made the right choice, but I see nothing to believe Gase will succeed. Some posters here like Vilma bring up good points and reason for a little hope. But they also don't deny Gase can fail. If you can't see there is a chance Giants made a better choice than us maybe you should look into the coach we have a little more.

Of course I was. “In the country” usually means college and Gase only coached him his rookie year. Hence me saying Gase took one of the best pass catching TEs in the country and made him a blocker. It doesn’t matter how you slice it, just say this sentence out loud. He was top 5 in every receiving category for a tight end to the point where he won an award, then he was turning into a blocker. That’s bad coaching and only falls in line with everything else most people say about Gase. He has no clue what he’s doing.

A true Dan Marino-esque showing in the first half. Six completions for 79 yards and two touchdowns. One wide open bomb and another bail out by his tightend. I truly don't believe you watch him play. And just look at the box score at the end of games.
