Exactly! It's amazing how some people just can't or won't understand/accept that. I don't remember who else liked Mahomes and wanted the Jets to draft him, but I KNOW that Colorado, Legler and I all did, and I rember that there were a few others. I never thought that Mac would draft him because he had taken Hack the year before and Petty still hadn't gotten a shot. Because of that I settled on Adams and was happy when the Jets took him, but I would much rather have had Mac take Mahomes.

Again, you're wasting your time. He will NEVER get it because he doesn't want to. That doesn't fit his agenda.

your comments backed it up that you debated going for mahomes first but felt he could be there in the 2nd and howard wouldn't so you chose howard. someone commented they doubt he would be there in the 2nd and you never replied. I looked back in my draft and had us taking mahomes or kizer in the 2nd round as well but obviously both were gone by our pick anyway hence is life as a GM. nothing in your history suggests you would have taken mahomes 6th overall. maybe mac felt he could land mahomes later. most people did not have him going top 10. some had him as late as early 2nd round. in hindsight you are syaing it now but back then howard was your pick and had mahomes not being doing well, you woldn't be discussing this now

he is saying that now, but his history shows he had us taking mahomes in the 2nd cause he could be there and taking howard with our first rounder so no not foresight at all. his foresight was that mahomes would be there in the 2nd round, i also mocked the same thing as well but i'm not saying i should be the GM and bragging about it LMAO

nah you just make stuff up and his post history shows he didn't have us taking mahomes with our 1st rounder at any point. he wanted him in the 2nd round, as did I, nobody here felt he was worth the 6th overall pick

He already said that was a draft game, which didn't represent his real desires. I don't recall him or any Mahomes supporter bragging about it.

someone asked him in the thread and he responded that he thinks mahomes will be there in the 2nd and debated taking him with our 1st pick but knows howard won't be there so would take howard instead. that was outside of the game. he had no intention to take mahomes 6th overall at any point which is the position mac was in, but he's grilling mac for not doing it and claiming he would have now, but it wasn't what he was saying back then

it's nothing different then what everyone here said last year that we needed a QB. he also mentioned trying to trade down to 12 for watson or mahomes (he clearly wasn't 100% sold on mahomes but more on the idea that we needed a better QB and any of the top 3 from last year would do) and all of them were gone by 12. he ends with if we can't trade down then take mahomes or watson. there is nothing there saying how mahomes is the next greatest QB ever and we should take him at 6. This is only a discussion because mahomes has looked so good this year.

also what i was referencing was this

CC said: "So, adding it all up, IMO, the Jets need a better QB than they have, and Mahomes and Watson fit that criteria, so they should take one of them in the first round. Ideally, they can trade down with Cleveland to 12 and get one of them, and also get their 1st pick in the 2nd round which is almost like another 1st rounder. But if they can't trade down, then take Mahomes preferably, or Watson at 6." So if the Browns had been willing to do the trade, CC would have ended up with Watson. Otherwise he would have gotten Mahomes.

i get it, we all agreed we needed a QB and nothing wrong with his plan at all, just saying if he is mac and sitting at 6 it doens't sound like he was going to call up mahomes name especially when someone unexpected falls to 6.

Of course you're right, but that poster will never hear it. His head is as thick as concrete. I could go back and find numerous posts of CCs where he was clamoring for Mahomes, some of which he and I discussed where I agree with him that Mahomes was a great prospect and worthy of being the Jets' selection, but that I never thought that Mac would take him.

If that someone unexpected you're referring to is Adams, there's nothing in CC's post indicating he would have taken Adams over Mahomes.

I appreciate NC, Enunwafan, and HOTJ for trying to defend my support of Mahomes to SGB, but it's apparently a hopeless effort.

Yes, I DID waver a bit, but that wasn't because of my personal belief in Mahomes being a FQB, but more so because I didn't think Macc was going to admit his massive mistake in picking Hack the year before, so I was trying to figure out - given that Macc likely wouldn't draft a QB - what he would do. Again, if t were me, I would've taken Mahomes or possibly Watson. Failing that, I would've taken a stud offensive player. What I WOULD NOT have done is taken TWO Safeties with my first two picks when I had so many other bigger needs.

i know that but the jets were in love with him and didn't expect him to fall. nobody here was really looking at safeties, we all wanted a QB taken high. there were 3 1st round talents although some scouts had 2 of them more as late 1st/ early 2nd rounders (mahomes and watson) even trubisky wasn't considered a top 5 talent but went 2nd overall. If your actually the GM and not a bunch of fans like us and your picking 6th you do your due diligence on all the top picks and they jets loved adams and never expected him to fall, same goes for darnold. the jets loved him but never expected him. same with williams. the jets have gotten lucky to land their guy in a few drafts in a row. if CC was actually the GM maybe he loves someone over mahomes.

fans tend to take a blindsided view and i'm just not a big fan of all the negativity around here lately, i know we are losing but everyone here expected to lose this season. most said we were a 5-6 win team again. and we are on that pace but instead of people saying yeah it's expected, everyone is losing their minds and looking for things to pick at and hate. I just don't get it

All things a good GM should do, but his drafting after round 1 needs to get better.

Agreed, in hindsight, that is the obvious choice there, although Maholmes right now is loaded with offensive weapons that most QBs (let alone young QBs) can only dream of. No reason to think he has that same success on the Jets.

Some people wanted Maholmes on here that year, but it would have been considered a reach at the time since most scouts had Watson and Trubiski ranked ahead of him. Imagine if Darnold had Tyreek Hill, Kareem Hunt and Sammy Watkins. He'd be lighting it up, too.
