I can live with a lot of the changes that they have made but there is one that infuriates me and one that we have yet to see if it will come to pass but I doubt it: Infuriates: when Jamie sets Tyrion free and then Tyrion goes and kills Tywin and Shae. In the books he finds out that the first woman he loved was not a whore, that she actually loved him and both Tywin and Jamie have been lying to him for years and it breaks his heart. This gives him the motivation to actually go confront and kill Tywin. In the show it's like "hey bro, love you, good luck" and Tyrion's like hmmm...I could just escape completely unscathed but for no apparent reason I'm going to swing by pops place despite the fact I'll likely be captured and/or killed. That was the most idiotic and meaningless change. We'll see: Lady Stoneheart (don't want to give any spoilers so I'll just say that for people who have read the books)
Im one of the few that's happy that lady stoneheart is left out of the show. Bringing characters back to life is Shitty lazy deritive fantasy writing in my opinion. Totally agree on the tysha point above though.
Fair enough but they've already shown it with Beric Dondarrion (or however you spell it) when he fought the hound and made reference to various magics, especially in relation to the lord of light (creepy shadow murder thing for example). So it's not a huge stretch to do it again. Ultimately they may still do it and it's not heart breaking if they don't but it's one of the changes that I don't really like so far. Not on the same scale as the Tysha issue but, yeah, it's there for me.
Some good points...stoneheart is my biggest beef but lets be honest the show is deviating becauae of GRRM. Fucker has given up writing instead is sucking the fame and chilling till he dies. Also show is now >>> books. Book 4 and 5 were weak. Show has surpassed it and they are now having loose interpretation on things. Remember last season the walker touching the baby? That was awesome and never in books. Just enjoy the show now for what it is.
I've only watched part of this series but I'm already soured on it from the guys that read the books here. And really you guy need to use Spoiler spoiler tags
Sorry bud...I thought the title implied spoilers, and honestly didn't even know you could do that...will use it from now on
Its okay I'm not offended or anything, but I think there is a topic here that people that read the books talk about it in, I remember seeing two topics about GOT in this forum a while back
They better include Lady Stoneheart (Catlin Stark)this year or my head will explode. Its important to me that she's in the show,There has been no vengenace since the "Red Wedding" and I feel like she provides some.Plus she has a huge impact on Lady Briennes story line in a way that if left out it would be a huge thing to leave out
You should really mark that as a spoiler. It's okay to discuss show spoilers here but people who are watching the show won't know the identity of Lady Stoneheart.
Sure, but that's for spoilers on the show not necessarily book spoilers. If you want to discuss spoilers at least identify them as such so show watchers don't get things ruined for them that haven't happened yet. At least that's my opinion, maybe others including Mods will disagree. *shrugs*
Yeah I think it's show spoilers. If you didn't watch Sunday's episode, don't come in here before you do because people will be discussing the episode. Posting spoilers from the books relating to issues that won't occur for 2 or 3 seasons is not what was intended to be protected. I didn't read the books so I don't want to know anything about John Snow's future other than what's occurred on the show. If he gets killed 2 years from now, I don't want to know that. That's not a show spoiler, that's a spoiler spoiler. _
There's ony suppose to be 8 seasons of thrones according to the producers which doesn't seem possible being that two books haven't even come out yet
