I'd take Cutler over any other FA QB and over the two prospects at the top of the draft. He's an above average QB, I could even deal with the Jets paying his salary.
Cutler has some issues and I havnt watched every bears game but seems like he's kind of a scapegoat here. The line looks like shit for him everytime I watch. Last year they finally had solid protection and they set franchise records for offense.
I think Cutler would be a great option for the Jets and the best they;d have seen in quite some time, the issue is his salary and you'll need to trade for him, it's almost impossible for him to be cut.
Not sure if he's a scapegoat or not, but it's crazy to me how poor their offense is even though they have so many weapons and one of the best running backs in the league. Maybe it's just the OLine like you said, though.
Their offensive issues are a combination of about everything, awful OL, injuries to both of their star WRs, Bennet at TE is good but overrated and expected to do more than he's actually capable of, Cutler is not immune to mistakes himself, and Forte can only do so much on his own when nothing else is working. Cutler will easily be the best QB available this offseason as well as easily the most expensive. He's not the sole reason the Bears offense has issues but he's certainly a part of their problem too. Interestingly enough, Cutler is on pace for the 2nd best yardage total and has already thrown for a career best number of Touchdowns along with his highest completion % ever, yet he's being looked at as one of the leagues worst QB's. Just goes to show that numbers don't tell half the story.
http://forums.theganggreen.com/thre...lass-lots-of-talent.82839/page-2#post-3146360 I'm tellin you guys. We're gonna end up with Cutler.
It is amazing that anyone would want to go down the Cutler road. 32 million guaranteed for the next 2 years! For a guy who is a Turnover Machine -- a career pick a game guy, who has never shown any sense of ever giving a shit. He is the ultimate example of "potential" --- but this far into his career now, you have to just give up on the potential word and admit he is just not that good. Cutler would get eaten alive here and set the franchise back another 1/2 dozen years.
I wouldn't take Jay Cutler for free. he is a terrible QB and he would be eaten alive here. He is a classic example of just a #s guy.
Jeff George 2014 He's the last thing this team needs..... it would be such a classic "JETS" move. Eff Jay Cutler
actually I am. The fact that you aren't sure about Cutler tells us everything we need to know about how you evaluate QBs.
that would be incredible for us. First Kyle Orton who everyone thought was good and then Cutler. their playoffless streak would be guaranteed to continue. Buf is a decent QB away from postseason but Cutler is not a decent QB.
Jay Cutler > Mark Sanchez & Kyle Orton who are about even Cutler would do better in Buffalo and that smaller market/media than he would here in NY. They have a lot of talent in Buffalo. He'd be successful there
Jay Cutler is nowhere near as good as Mark. Jay is a fantasy QB, will put up good #s but you will never win with him no matter how much talent he has around him. Cutler and Orton are similar, 2 QBs average fans think are good b/c they put up decent #s but they disappear in every big spot.
I didn't bring up Mark and the fantasy #s are relevant. Jay is a fantasy QB and that's it, he wows the fans that don't watch and just look at blind #s.
I don't care about comparing him to Qbs that we don't have. Let's compare him to Qbs we do have. Jay Cutler > Geno and Vick. Yes, he's a gunslinger. Yes, his success depends upon taking risks. But yes, he would improve this football team.
he would not improve us, I'd rather have Geno or Vick. It would make absolutely no sense to bring Cutler in here.
