A healthy Revis is not worth $12 million. If the Jets had an offer on the table of a #2 this year and a 1 next year or this year's 1 from TB with some other mid-late round picks thrown in and they passed on it, there will be hell to pay.' Revis will not be a Jet in 2014 and the Jets will get nothing for him. Take the trade, take the picks, take the cap hit and rebuild with players who are not as selfish and who play more important impactful positions than CB.
I still think if you get 2 firsts, even if Revis would sign for 12-13 million, you have to consider trading Revis. But the market for CB is really low this year, we should use this as a huge negotiating point. If Revis is willing to stick around for 10-12 million, he's not straining the cap as much as expected. THe only downside is the risk of him holding out if he gets healthy or some corner goes on the market and gets overpaid

In fact, the source said, if the Jets are willing to take both picks in 2014, Tampa Bay would likely deal its first- and second-round picks for Revis, even though the Bucs are not sold that he can come back and be 100 percent after 2012 knee surgery. I rarely agree with Peter King these days but I think he's right about a 1st and a 2nd next year being preferable to the 13. The value chart says the 13 is worth more but the Jets circumstances say the picks next year are. That is unless the Jets have a QB they really like on the 9. Then you could make the argument that the 13 turns into a playmaker to raise with that QB.
I think a 2013 4th or 5th and a 2014 1st and 2nd makes it fair. (Especially because we don't know where Tampa will be picking in 2014 - they may have the 32nd pick, making it a terrible deal without a pick or two this year.)
i dont agree with the 2014 pick over 2013 pick sentiment AT ALL ... if we acquired #13 overall from the bucs, there would be no shortage of teams that would give us a 2014 #1 for the pick. hell, there might be a few teams willing to give us a 2014 #1 for our second round pick ... the difference is, with the #13 overall this year, we'll have the option of seeing who is on the board before we decide if we want to move the pick for a #1 next year the idea that acquiring the 2014 #1 is somehow a better move is mind boggling to me
no question 2014 1st and second rounders work for me - heck even the first and third, with the 3rd becoming a 2nd possibly - is fine.
How great would it be if we ended up with a top 3 pick though? I'm sure that one year ago the thought of acquiring the Chiefs, Lions, or Eagles 2013 first round pick wouldn't seem as appealing considering we wouldn't know that they tanked. Of course the idea of getting the Colts first rounder would seem like a great deal then and that turns out to not be a great pick. If we end up with the Bucs first in 2014, I think we'll all be hoping they fall hard.
Does anyone think the Bucs will be a playoff team next season with what they have currently? They have the Saints and Falcons in their division. 3 teams from the NFC South?
I htink the idea is if we wait til 14, we get their 1 &2. If thats the casea 1 & 2 next year is better tan 1 and maybe 4 or 5 this year.If we can get their 1 & 2 next year, I would carry Revis on my back to Tampa
Or if we compare it to the Hershel Walker trade, we should be asking for multiple firsts. Or if we compare it to the Roy Williams trade we should want a one, three and five. Or if we just realize that every trade comes with its own special set of circumstances we can talk about what is realistic.
They split with Atlanta last year and both games were close. They played one close one with the saints that they lost, and were blown out in another.

Would prefer to get a pick this year as well, but even with Revis I don't see Tampa Bay doing better than last in their division next year, so they should be relatively high picks in a draft with some high-end QB talent
