I think he bobbled the ball and then the ball hit the ground no overturn. Few other big calls that went the other way. How about phantom hold on Sanchez's 15 yard scramble. The PI is already being talked about.
It looked like a TD to me. He had full control. Rule is the ball can touch the ground in full control but the ball has to remain possessed through the touching of the ground.
We are talking about the 1st one, I thought the ball scraped the ground. Big difference between the ball touching the ground and teh ball scraping the ground. CBS only showed one replay once in which it showed the ball on the ground and they never showed it again.
Gronk raped you guys all over especially on the final drive of the 4th and how could he be left so open on the 2nd TD ....
I was telling the wifey this... The refs were almost dead on today but the TD was comfirmed upstairs so quickly that you have to question just wtf they are looking @. He bobbled the ball, then it hit the floor...now 2 things you look @ that are relevant to what changes the call. - Was he already OOB by the time he gained possession - Did he already have possession before the ball touching the ground. Now remember, they changed the rule allowing the ball to touch if the receiver has clear possession... IMO, This could have easily been called no TD but may not have had enough to overturn.
I agree. This should have been looked at. Was it a catch? Probably. But the ball moved a little bit, and he wasn't in-bounds for long. Was at least worth a look.
While I think the TD call probably would have stood, I was very surprised the ref didn't have to go under the hood on that one. I've seen much more obvious stuff reviewed. Red Zone channel showed it 3 or 4 times
They did review it but it was confirmed so quickly. CBS only showed one really good replay once and the ball looks as if it scraped the ground.
I was surprised we really didn't see any replays of the catch or the PI call. You typically see slow mo's on catches, and PI calls usually get shown a couple times. However, the catch was reviewed, and confirmed. The PI call is what it is.
The announcers/camera crew were late on a lot of things. They didn't show the holding call on NE, instead showing a catch that didn;t count. They missed that Hill was hurt for two plays. Missed Cumberland was hurt until he was in the tunnel. Missed the PI call to show it. Barely broke down plays and design of them.
