Another plus for Hill with the Jets deploying two inaccurate QB. It looks like he is good at making adjustments on poorly throw passes. This year not looking for much production but give the coaches another year to coach him up.
So we waste a pick on a position that wasn't a big need. Is he without a doubt better than Patrick Turner? If we would have traded up it should have been for Upshaw.
I don't know how anyone who watched the games last year could say that a WR who can stretch the field isn't a big need. I like the Hill pick. He's a project to be sure, but we know that he can go deep which is enough for his rookie year.
I'm not saying we don't need a number 2 receiver. I'm saying that we should have picked up a young veteran ala Braylon Edwards. Someone who is proven in this league opposite Holmes. We have 3 young receivers with potential already, we don't need a 4th. This draft should have been about loading up on pass rushers, safetys and o linemen.
I still just don't understand the Braylon hard-on. He had a useless, miserable year last season and not a single team is convinced that he's recovered enough to sign him this offseason. I like Edwards and I hope he comes back at full strength, but there's absolutely zero indication that he will.
Also, Braylon is 29 and coming off a season mired in injuries. That wouldn't have been the worst route to go, but now we have our franchise guy for Sanchez to work with. He will finally have consistency and Hill has 1st round, star potential.
This pick is better then our 1st round pick, Hill was a guy I had going in round 1 and as the 3rd best WR in the draft. He is a bit of a project but you can't coach up size and speed. Basically we got an Edwards clone but quite a few years younger. I think the best pick we've made under Rex Ryan after Sanchez.
Wasn't a need? It was a major need. Kiper still has it as a need AFTER the pick.. En how it's a need.
Edwards would've been an alright stopgap option, but he's no longer the kind of player that you can plan your future around. I had Hill as the 3rd best receiver on the board after Blackmon and Floyd. Getting him with the 43rd pick is great value. Coples I can understand, but I just don't get the complaining about Hill.

I already explained my reason why I thought it wasn't a need. We have a good number 1 guy in Holmes and a slot guy in Kerley. We have 3 young receivers with potential in Turner, Payne, and Chaz. All we needed was a deep threat and I felt we should have went the free agent route to fill that need.
I don't think that Turner, Payne and Chaz are anywhere near good enough to justify passing on a guy with Hill's talent at the 43rd pick. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
What about 'a rookie right tackle will suck as badly as Hunter' don't you understand? If the Jets are going to improve at RT for this season, it's either the best that the first round has to offer at the position, which they weren't in position to capitalize on, or a free agent vet. Now they're going to have to wait until cuts happen after the draft. Get over it.
