AGAIN...I'll BREAK IT DOWN for you, "SAD" to be a "JETS FAN"..."EMBARRASSING" to be a "JETS FAN"...do you think any of those statements equate to being good???, if you can't comprehend/understand what I stated you NEED to brush up on your reading ability.
Wow...look at those names on the MNF masthead....Roone Arledge....Don Ohlumeyer....Chet Forte....like a timewarp. And Howard C. !!!
More Wow....Ed Marinaro (went on to become an '80's actor).....Sam "Bam" Cunningham...Russ Francis.....Daryl Stingley (R.I.P.)......Steve Grogan.....Chuck Fairbanks....Leon Gray and John Hannah. Fairbanks is interesting....the 1st in a long-line of NFL coaches who went (back) to college and found out that they should have stayed in the pros. Ray Perkins is another who threw away (Giants) immortality for a failed fling at his alma matter. Holtz was right to go back, of course.
I'd have to give the nod to Kotite, he at least had some success with the Eagles. Holtz was only good in college ball.
All I know of this season is my Dad telling me Holtz had the players trying to sing in the locker room, and that he was so in over his head he quit before the season ended.
I remember the Raiders carrying John Madden off after the Super Bowl vs the Vikings. It took most of the team but they did it.
