I wouldn't say that... we've got Potter, Cook, Southerland, Conley and Pizzotti who IMO can all make the team. I sure would've liked if we got Ellerbe, Beckwith or Baker but it's not like everyone is going to come here...
Mambo This is my understanding: In football, UFA's get between $1,000 and $25,000 (few get over 20K). The most the Jets have paid in recent years for a UDFA is 2k (Danny Woodhead). They typically go for the 2K types and not the 10-25K UFA's, like some other teams. The Vikings are constantly thowing money at UFA's and few big names stick (wasted money?). Bradway made the comment that throwing 10,000 to 25,000K at the top UFA's made little sense and he CHANGED COURSE a few years ago, citing the Vikings overpaying for names and not talent. It seems that Bradway has put the onus on the scouts to find the lesser known, cheaper gems. This is a theory based on some posts I have read over the last couple of years. Bradway has said he would not go after the "big names", Tanny seems to be similar..... the "big names" are mostly guys that media would categorize as college stars that were "draft snubs", or players that just missed getting drafted. Weaknesses Not very big, and may not have the frame to get much bigger without losing the shiftiness that makes him special. Bit straight-linish. Times faster than he plays. jets loading up with undrafted free agents it seems like the jets had these picks on their draft board before the draft. I hope that they can find a good blocking tight end and a defensive end to fill in the gap of the players that were traded to cleveland.in the past the jets have found a few gems in the undrafted free agents that were available after the draft. it looks like a lot of teams are doing the same.
Yeah, UFA's are truly the shotgun approach. Give em a shot, and keep the one or two that hit. Would be nice to find a blocking tight-end, and I know the DE we picked up Zach Potter isn't bad, a little underweight ATM but he has a good frame to fill out. We'll see what we come up with. I'd rather have a solid tackle block at the tight end position if we can't find a good "true TE" UFA or regular FA.
