Oakland-Yankees and Padres-Phillies postponed. Masterson pitched well, but as expected, neither starter pitched deep into the game. I suppose Hendrickson was good by his standards. Masterson has talent and potential, at least. Liz was terrible yet again, but I think I'd take him over Hendrickson. He has a chance to improve, perhaps. He does have some raw talent.
Hendrickson is still in the league for pretty much one reason only, he's left handed. though actually 2 years ago his metrics were pretty good his FIP was 4.06 k/Bb was over 3. the other LHP options on the 40 man are brutal, walker has no control and strikes noone out. Rich hill is the unenviable combination of terrible and injured, and matuz isn't ready for the bigs yet.
Masterson pitched 5 1/3, which is pretty good considering he's been in the bullpen since about 3/4 of the way through spring training. How deep did you want him to go?

He really wasn't a big part I don't think, he was just a AAAA pitcher the Rangers could throw out there for the rest of the year, the real prizes in that trade were David Murphy and Engel beltre, particularly beltre, who BP had as the #68 prospect,
Nah, he was considered a significant piece and the only player with big league experience. Obviously Murphy and Beltre were considered to have much higher upsides, but: In the aftermath Heh. So while I agree that Beltre and Murphy were the real prospects, Gabbard was a significant part of the deal.
