Yes all these threads are premature. Mac. I am guessing, will do a better job than Idzik during the draft to move up and grab a QB pending MM 3/28 performance for Jets.

BTW Varga is a good player. But he should go 4th round or later IMO.

With al the WRs on board we wont be "ground and pound" a la Rex again. I think it will be more balanced.

I don't think it will be "ground and pound" either. It will be more balanced. But the running game better be solid. Being in a position with an ineffective running game where Fitz or Geno need to chuck it 40+ times per game would be asking for trouble.

Whether you are running it 40% of the time or 50% of the time, I don't see how the coaches could feel good heading into the season with Ivory and Powell (and Daryl Richardson) as the only RBs.

Ivory is solid runner when healthy, but is banged up a lot and one dimensional. Powell is ok but not a difference maker.

    Best- WR

    Worst- Schreff

Marshall is a fantastic player, and health permitting he'll be a huge help. But the Jets are one Marshall injury away from being the same below average receiving corps they were last year.

If they cant get the QB, they should do all they can to help the current QB.

Drafting a pro bowl caliber G (who can probably play RT, if necessary) would help the current QB by boosting the run game and by keeping pressure out of his face. I wouldn't do it at #6 but in a trade back scenario I think it would make sense.

Agreed. Which is why I specifically said Schreff and not RT/G in general.

I don't think he is a pro bowl caliber anything.

    Hmm good question.

I would rather have Laken Tomlinson in round 2 (or a trade back) than Schreff in round 1. I believe he will be the better player when its all said and done.

I like Lael Collins better if we traded back. I dont believe there is a G/T that is worth it with the 6th pick. My favorite tackle in the draft is Andrus Peat, and even I would have a tough time taking him at 6.

I believe the top of this draft for us is WR/QB/OLB.

Interesting. I'm all for value if we can get a quality starter in round 2 or later. I'm no scout and don't watch a lot of college football or study offensive lineman. But I like what I've seen of Scherff (eye test) and based on what I've read from sources I tend to trust, he seems to be a top prospect with a high floor.

I would take Cooper without hesitation if he is there at #6.

Unfortunately though, I think the Raiders have wised up. Reggie Mackenzie is on thin ice. I'll be very surprised if they pass on him. Hopefully, they fall in love with somebody else or maybe Leonard Williams slides to #4 and they deem him too good to pass up.

I'd be happy with: Winston (which would never happen as I wouldn't want to trade up to get him nor would TB trade down to allow us to get him, but I digress), Fowler, Cooper, White
I'd be initially annoyed but cautiously optimistic with: Mariota, Gregory, Beasley
I'd be very happy with (but only if we trade down a few picks): Parker, Scherff, Flowers, Peat, Collins
I'd be pissed with: Ray, Waynes, and everyone else not listed above.

    I agree.

If Mariota is off the board and Cooper is there we need to take him! Cooper excels in the slot too! Marshall and Decker with Cooper in the slot is a giant step in the right direction.

I can't believe all of the hate for Shane Ray on this board.

He was not 100% healthy at the combine.

With a good pro day or private workout he may prove himself equal to or better than Fowler / Beasley when he is healthy.

Right now I have him as the fourth best defensive player in this draft.

    Am I missing something?

He did his pro day. He's pretty average physically. He was a gimmicky pass rusher in college where they would move him around on the d line to create mismatch. That won't be viable in the NFL. Beasley is a total physical beast on par with Clowney, he blows Ray out of the water.
