I was the Jet's GM in a computer mock draft (fastmock draft.com). The GMs compete against 31 other GMs. My Jets' Rd 3 Draft: #25 Jarvis Moss DE Florida...............IMO, a no brainer at #25, can't believe Jarvis fell that low. Can play with his hand down and drop into coverage. Unbelieveable measurables and will wreak havoc in the backfield. #38 Ben Grubbs OG Auburn..............Pete is getting up there in age and Moore is just average, Grubbs, Mangold and D'Brick are the making of a young stellar O-Line...good value in early Rd 2. I really like Grubbs, will be a solid player for many years. #57 Tony Hunt RB PSU..................Tony isn't speed back, but is strong, a good blocker, decent receiver, and always moving North/South. Perfect compliment with Leon. #89 Brian Leonard FB Rutgers.........Okay! Some will say 2 backs picked in day 1 is crazy. The defensive players I was targeting.....DT & CB were drafted in Mid Rd 3, and I missed Josh Wilson by a couple of spots. Leonard was my BPA, and with Barlow, Blaylock & maybe Askew gone...I'll take Leonard in late Rd 3. Hunt, Washington, Houston & Leonard is a terrific backfield and gives us lots of options. Leonard can be a Hybrid player and do alot more the Askew. Leonard can line-up as a 4th or 5th receiver.
Well you definitely got good value for where you drafted, but I just dont like it all. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Moss and Grubbs picks. But we do need more help on defense. I think with one of those last two picks we would need to get a CB or a DT. I would just not want 2 RB's in the same draft. I do not consider Leonard a full back even anymore, he is more of a Kevin Faulk type RB. I would be extremely satisfied with the first 2 or 3 picks, but you need to get another defensive player in there somewhere.
JJ, I tried to get a CB or DT with a Rd 3 grade and it didn't happen. The defensive players coming off the board just before my Leonard pick were......Josh Wilson, Kareem Brown, McBean & Mebane. Jay Moore was available, but I'm not as high on Jay as some on this site. His 2 sacks in the Senior Bowl were gifts.
Well, I was actually talking about more in the 2nd round. I think Hunt there was a bit of a reach, and he probably (or someone very similar to him) would have been available with that 3rd rounder. I think, personally, that the defensive needs should come before our RB needs, especially since you would be getting a player that would not even start at RB.
The Moss pick is a no-brainer and the Ben Grubbs pick is good too. I can live with Brian Leonard, but not Brian Leonard AND Tony Hunt. Pick one or the other and maybe take a DL with the other pick. I doubt Leonard is there for our 3rd round pick anyway.
In a real live Mock draft, you don't have an option to say...." Oh I shouldn't have picked Hunt, because Leonard would be in late Rd 3". No disrepect, I should post the entire draft and you tell me who I should have taken in rd 3. Leonard was the BPA....by far at # 89.

Oh my bad... I read your post too quickly and missed the part where you said it was a live mock draft. Sorry! I'm still not crazy over Hunt/Leonard, but it makes a whole lot more sense now.

But in the 3rd round, Leonard was definitely the BPA, so that was not too bad. Definitely not Hunt in the 2nd though.
Bro give yourself a pat on the back because that is a HELL of a haul for us. Maybe the only pick im soft on is Hunt at 57 but honestly it doesnt really matter. Leonard in the 3rd is where I put him so thats good, the OG you got is solid with our 1st 2nd rounder and Moss is amazing with our 1st rounder.
I on my own Board, I have Hunt as the #3 ranked Back, ahead of Bush & Irons. Hunt, IMO, would be a perfect fit with Leon Washington and Cedric Houston. Bush's weight scares the hell out of me. So, I have no regrets selecting Hunt at the end of Rd 2. These drafts are still unrealistic....since we have no idea who the Jets will aquire in FA.
Hunt was a very good pick in the second round--although there was a lot of DE talent left on the board, I think Hunt is rated above them in most value boards (at this time--we'll see how the Combine shakes out). And RB is definitely a position of need. IDEALLY the Jets will come out of day one filling holes at RDE, OL, OLB/pass rusher, and RB; but the way the draft shakes out will determine that. If Hunt is on the board that late, he would be a very solid pick. How did Brandon Jackson get taken so early?
Awesome, awesome draft for the most part. I'm not sold on Hunt + Leonard, was there any way that you could've traded down from our second or anything? Hunt was definitely the BPA at that pick though so if no it's a terrific haul as far as I'm concerned. I think you could maybe argue a minor reach for McBean there but it's all good. I just really wish that there were more fat NT prospects in the draft at our second pick, but nothing you could do about that.
Just so you know WW, Manuel Ramirez has something torn up in his knee that he played all season on, and he's going to miss all pre draft workouts because of surgery. I saw you picked him in the 2nd for Seattle, and I know he's a favorite here. Anyway, if the Jets get Jarvis Moss in Rd 1, they could do whatever they want from 2-7, it'd still be a great day.
I remember seing Ramirez in drills at the Senior Bowl and he looked good to me. If Ramirez played all year on his knee, it may not be that much of a problem....maybe it just needs scoped. Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware of a problem. BTW, I'm hoping Jarvis Moss last to #25, if not, I would take Quentin Moses. Any other 1st rd pick, especially a CB (I'm not high on the 1st rd projected CBs) would be a disappointment.
