I remember posting something saying that no matter where they drafted, I wanted the guy they drafted to be tops at his position in a few years. I know that most teams want that to happen. I wanted some sense that it was a guaranteed result. They did that with Williams. They probably did with Adams. Safety is a dodgy position to me for a 6, but the consensus is he cannot miss.
The biggest mistakes teams make on draft day is panicking. Your scouts put a year's work into evaluating & building a draft board. And one big head in a suit totally over analyzes the whole ordeal in an hour's time...and makes a foolish move like the Bears did.The only thing that saves this from being a complete disaster a slight notch below the Ricky Williams trade is Trubiskynot only being a long term fixture....but bringin rings to the windy city.
Here's an interesting read, a little long but great look into the 49s war room during the draft. http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/05/01/...aft-room-bears-trade-reuben-foster-peter-king
It was a cool look into the war room. Wonder how many teams have selected Fans in the war room on draft day? It also she'd some light on the Bears trade.
and just how absurd it was. they got completely fleeced and then selected the wrong guy. id be pissed if i was a fan of the windy city players.
It would be interesting but I doubt many GMs would want that info available come January. Especially if picks don't pan out as hoped.
