How would that effect the cap?? I am starting to think chad cant play and he knows it. Thats the reason he wont give back $$$ because he knows this is the last payday and he is done. I hope I am wrong

I believe it would be the same effect as if he was cut

i was also wondering how it would work against the cap if he was deemed medically unable to play?

What's to wonder?! Whether the league will give us a cookie and tell us they'll make it all better?

Players are deemed "medically unable to play" every season, except we call it the Disabled List.

Retiring is just like being cut.

The only way you reclaim the cap hit is if the pro-rated portion of the signing bonus is paid back to the club.

For example, Curtis Martin has a thing in his current deal where if he can't play anymore due to injury, an insurance policy HE PAYS FOR (if the team pays for it, it doesn't count) will pay the team back the prorated bonus remaing.

This is why the Lions wanted Sanders signing bonus back..

did k.c have to count derrick thomases salary against the cap when he was killed? if chad is deemed medically unable to play the league may not count his salary against the cap
