Todd needs this win more than the Jets. I don't see a win unless Allen is Qb. Even then, the Jets will keep it close and give the Bills a 4th qtr chance at a win. This is the last winnable game on the schedule for 2018.
Only question is what QB does the Jets defense prepare for this week. Assuming that Allen starts, I guess Bowles and Rodgers will have the team watching footage of Matt Barkley and Nathan Peterman in preparation.
Rain/Snow forecast here in PA for Sunday probably means all snow in Buffalo. Darnold will get his first real taste of NE outdoor football. Enough reason to watch this game I guess.
If the Jets win, and that’s a big if, we will be forced to watch on field dances, hi fives, announcers talking about how they never stopped believing in themselves, always fighting BS,BS, BS. If McCown starts we will have to hear how tough he plays for being close to 40 years of age, all while being the joke of the league, $10,000,000 a year for a backup QB. Most no.1 draft picks in the last 10 years who were busts, another first week of December wondering about top 5 draft position, fans saying why not lose.
Allen is starting to show some improvement. Yesterday 18-33 2 TD's and 2 INT's plus 9 rushes for 135 yards. The Bills don't have much offensively but they seem to play better when he starts. Like Darnold he is still going thru the growing pains but has been making big plays for them the last few games. I hope Darnold plays because he needs the experience. My real hope here is that both Mike and Todd get the boot at the end of the season. Time for new leadership with both the GM and HC
That match-up makes it the most exciting game for me to watch since Cousins vs Darnold Week 7. That is how brutal the season has been. I know many fans here care about draft position, and I do too more than ever, but I would like to see Sam get a win over Josh. He doesn't play Jackson or Rosen, he already played Mayfield and was spotted a 14-0 lead and still lost, so it would be nice for his mindset to get a win over his classmate.
If Darnold plays I want to see success. I don't care about draft position if he's on the field, let's see him win. Bowles is shot no matter how many games we win.
It's an interesting thing to me that everyone is talking about how Lamar Jackson can't handle all of that running indefinitely, but no one is saying it about Allen. He's obviously not running as much each game, and he's obviously bigger, but all it takes is one shot to the knees and his season and career could be over.
I think it's about build--no one is complaining about Cam running but everyone thought RG3 would get killed. Same analogy to Allen v Lamar.
Yes, I think it's exactly that, and so far Newton has avoided serious injuries that kept him out of games, but his 2014 season was certainly affected by injuries. As K'OB said, one shot the wrong way is the eternal risk of a running QB, and the Tim Tebows of the world don't make it as QBs in the NFL. Allen needs to learn how to pass the ball or he's not going to make it.
I think it's because people don't associate Allen with running (I knew he could move but never thought of him as a dual threat), so they're slower to associate him with the consequences of running as well.
