I can't help you with comprehension nor your football knowledge. I just posted that this guy is not a 3-4 linebacker. If they do take him (which I hope they don't) then he would have to convert or they will have to run a 4-3 dfense and Darron Lee would be the middle linebacker. Which he is not and not what he was drafted for last year.

I mean, my football knowledge isn't lacking. You're simply not referring to who you're talking about which makes it difficult to understand your argument.

As it relates to Lee, he would be a much, much better fit as a weakside linebacker in a 4-3. He would also fit reasonably well as an inside linebacker too. One of the key strengths of a 4-3 defense is limiting the opportunities that offensive linemen have to get to the second level and take on much smaller linebackers. It's also Lee's biggest issue. He can't effectively take on offensive linemen. He gets swallowed up. The 4-3 gives linebackers less variety in gap assignment and allows for them to roam a bit more freely, react, and be quick to the ballcarrier without taking on a lot of blocks. It's why smaller, faster (Lee) linebackers are favored in that base defensive scheme.

Now, I HAVE NOT ONCE SAID SOLOMON THOMAS IS DEFINITIVELY A 3-4 OLB. I simply said, given his athleticism, I would not put it outside his range of capabilities. I've also said over and over again that I believe he's best fit as a 4-3 DE. Does that mean we are drafting him and going to a 4-3? No. But if we were to draft him, which I do not expect at #6, the switch to the 4-3 may be in our best interest.

^This is how you argue. Don't resort to questioning people's knowledge while throwing around arbitrary pronouns with multiple possible subjects.

In a 4-3 defense Lee wouldn't play at all. We have Maudlin on one side and Jenkins on the other. Maudlin is the speed pass rusher and I'm betting his game will improve with Kevin Greene onboard. Jenkins set the edge and takes on the tackles and guards. Really can't see Lee doing that either. You stated that same exact thing above so we agree with that. I just don't see Lee in any defense except 3-4 inside linebacker. Most MLB in 4-3 are thumpers like our own David Harris. If a guard of big fullback get's on them they have the ability to stuff them and allow the other backers or SS to wrap up the ballcarrier.

Reyes is right. He would go back to his natural position which is weak side linebacker in a 4-3. He played that in OSU.

My opinion of Solomon Thomas, he is an extremely hard working, blue collar relentless player. Just a word of caution to people thinking he's worth being drafted in the top 6 picks. Thomas' meteoric rise was due to his fantastic bowl game performance. I watched a few plays during the bowl game and Thomas was unblocked, not even touched. I've seen players who were considered 2nd or 3rd round picks a few months before the draft rise from a few solid games or reputation as a hard hitter......Calvin Pryor comes to mind. Just be wary of players that rise up the pundits boards after the season is over.

I think Thomas will be a solid NFL player, but not elite and worthy of a top pick.

If the Jets were to draft Thomas, we would be commited to a 4-3 defense, with no one to play MLB. That is why I'm all in for drafting Reuben Foster, he could leave our options open and we can play him in a 4-3 or 3-4 in the middle.

Million dollar question: can the Jets utilize their present DL , if they draft Foster and switch to a 4-3? On paper, Leo, Sheldon, Mo and Simon look to be very intriguing, but can it work?? I would do cartwheels if they take Foster. He's a special player.

I agree about Solomon ... I really like Hooker as you know, but man Reuben Foster just seems so much better to help make this defense an angry hard hitting defense with Leonard Williams. I don't know how to put it, it just feels right for him to be in green. I love the way Foster hits people. He could be our Luke Kuechly, but dare do I say Foster hits harder? I've seen scouting reports where they said he can't play 4-3 MLB, I think that's BS. The NC game he was everywhere on the field.

Sorry pass and the Jets brass would be escorted out of the facility in strait jackets. Foster is no Luke Kuechly, not even close. Drafting that guy would ensure that we go 0-16 because we won't score anything but field goals....all year.

I would be sick with another first round defensive player and a inside linebacker at that. The Jets need to draft this year like they are gonna draft next year. Because this defense might not be the one they run next year with a new coach. We have holes all in the secondary drafting a non rushing inside/middle linebacker is the ultimate wasted pick. I mean if you are not generating any pressure you could have the best press coverage corners in history and they would be toasted and roasted.

I guess the Jets only have 1 draft pick and no one on offense that can play! Great mindset! Apparently someone hasn't watched the guy play.

I'm sure most will be sick with that idea and I don't expect the Jets to take him at #6 but they have to find a replacement for Harris at some point....that being said I don't agree with you about "non-rushing" - if Harris can manage to have a several 5 sack seasons, no question that Foster will equal or better that. Harris's .5 sack performance in 2016 hurt more than many realized.

I understand your wanting the Jets to draft offense. I think you have a good point that if we have a new HC next year that the D alignment might be different. The thing you miss, however, is that Foster is a great prospect and he could play equally well in a 4-3 or 3-4 D alignment. Normally, I wouldn't think of drafting an ILB as high as #6, but Foster is a special player.

I'm not saying that he absolutely should be the Jets' pick at #6, or that I would take him if I was making the pick. I'm just saying that he is totally worthy of consideration for being the pick at #6, and the Jets could do a LOT worse than taking Foster.

Nice post. I feel with a new OC that offense will be the theme in this draft for the Jets. I think they are set at WR and hope Marshall does come back. Now we need to find a QB, at least 2 OL players because everyone thinks Clady will be cut, 1 RB and a TE prospect.

Listen everyone one of these guys have a highlight film that make them look like God's. I looked at his stats and he had ZERO interception and 2.0 sacks. Do we really need another non productive inside linebacker? Is that the most pressing isse right now on the Jets team? Lastly his size is not impressive 6'1 236. You can get value at the position later in the draft.

From what I've read, foster has already had multiple concussions ... hard pass

ILBs are not judged by their interceptions or sacks. You obviously have not seen him play. You really need to watch video on this player. He will not be non-productive.

While ILB may not be the most pressing need, it is a strong need, and may be the best player available to the Jets at that point in the draft. In all likelihood, there will be no QB, LT, or OLB pass rusher who will be rated higher or who will be available at #6. Garrett is the only player at either of those 3 positions you would be rated higher. A #1 CB is a big need as well, and they could take on of those there, but that wouldn't be good value. Another big need is at FS, and they could possibly take one (Hooker there). The other big needs are RB and TE. Fournette could be there and would address that big need, but wouldn't be a value pick and there are the questions about his anke(s). Howard would be another possibility and he would address the TE need, but again wouldn't be the greatest value that high.

As has been discussed in another thread, the Pats don't worry about measurables or Combine production very much. They take great football players who love to play, who have great character and who will work hard. Foster is each of those. He could be a perennial All Pro. He can cover TEs and RBs, has great instincts and is a solid tackler.

Stats and YouTube highlights don't make the player. And even after all of that you still got his stats wrong.

It's clear as day you haven't seen the guy play 1 snap so how can you pass judgement? Jets more than likely will go D in the first round. There's really no elite level offensive prospects that early in the draft.

There are tons of issues with the Jets. Better off taking the player that makes the team better and help change the culture.

I count 4 sacks , but the 12 tackles for losses 8 QB hurries and 94 team high tackles is what really impresses me. IDK but his highlite film convinced me he's a special player. He shows amazing quickness and always seems to be near the play, which is hard to coach.

Like I said before this defense we are running today will not be the same defense we run next year with a new coach. So it will make more sense to draft offense because that base won't change. You will always need a guard, tackle, QB, RB, WR for any base offense. Now next we might be a 4-3 defense. So we drafted a ILB last year no way on this planet should we take another one. Just a waste a waste we cannot afford because unless this ILB can throw TD passes we will suck even more next year.
