From the guy who demanded we draft Vic Beasley two years ago. I give you my shot at the draft. Picking #6. 1-QB Deshaun Watson-Clemson. we will do whatever we need until we find a QB. It's a QBs league. 2-FS Budda Baker-Washington. I think we can address CB in free agency but gilchrist will not be 100% from his knee and is aging. 3-OLB Harold Landry- Boston College. Big time rusher. 3-4 OLB who has 16 sacks this year. 5-OT Zach Banner OT USC 6-RB. James Conner-RB Pitt. 7-DT Deangelo Brown-Louisville
Not the way I would go. I think the best way to deal with the QBs at the top of the draft is to use them as trade bait. It is hard to fill holes when you use a high draft pick on a QB every year. Until we address our offensive line, a QB is just an injury waiting to happen.
He didn't say with the #6 pick. He said day 1 or 2. If the Jets could trade down and add Ramczyk, or get Bolles in the 2nd or find another OT they like in the 2nd round, that's what he means.
I think more than questions need to arise. I think pitchforks, torches, and pink slips need to arise. That would definitely turn me against Mac.
Watson sounds like a winner and a leader. As it stands now, I'd be excited with him in the 1st. I agree about LT, especially after drafting the 'next' franchise QB he needs to be invested in. I'd target one at the top of the 2nd in this scenario. Maybe Dion Dawkins from Temple? Carpenter and Winters are solid at guard spots. Shell looks like the RT and Johnson seems to be a potentially decent C, but would like a draft pick invested there too.
It will be interesting to see how Watson perform's againt Bama in next Monday's Championship game. If he plays well, he may be gone before we pick.
Watson just carved up OSU for a 31-0 defeat. One of his INT's as most of his this year was from a tipped ball or WR falling down. I would rather not get another defender just b/c our offense has really left our d on an island this year so I think they aren't as bad as we may think, Realistically... Cam Robinson, Deshaun Watson, or try and slightly trade back for Dalvin Cooke would be imo the best draft.
honestly, by the time we get to the draft i might have already thrown in the towel with all the speculation and really not care about who the hell they pick. LOL. i hate the idea of picking a QB until you find one but thats essentially what we are doing so there.
Get a QB every year Nothing to say about Hack or Petty Speculate/know Hack sux We see wagt we have in Petty Ol and QB please Maybe not in that order Order some new managemat too lol
A dream scenario would be to get a pass rusher in round one or trade back and take a tackle and be staring at Deshaun Watson in round two IMO. I really think he's going to be the real deal in the pro's, and wasting a pick on Hackenberg should not limit us in taking someone who can potentially be a franchise quarterback. He gets unfairly tagged as a running quarterback because he can run, but he's a pretty solid pocket passer in all honesty. We need an imaginative offensive coordinator to use him correctly though.
i'm higher on him then most and wouldn't bat an eye if they took him at 6, qbs get over drafted, it is part of the game now but if you think one can be the franchise, and i think he can be, you don't wait.
Bumping my thread because of Watson. He may not be there when we pick. Imo if we stay at 6 it should be for: Myles Garrett, Deshaun Watson, or Mike Williams. Everyone else could be picked by trading down. We need talent. Picking up another first next year would be huge.
We're in rebuild mode. If we can trade down we should. It's not like we have one major need that we can only get at 6.
The thing with Watson is that he can move in the pocket and has the ability to make a horrible O line look better
That's nice and all, but thats what we had last year with Fitz getting the ball out so quickly. He was rarely sacked but that didn't mean we suddenly had the best line in the league. Masking deficiencies is why we've fallen off so hard from last year.
