exactly. in an ideal world the bills draft mayfield and set their franchise back 5 years with the pick. Miami still lacks a good QB, brayd has to retire at some point. it could be trending up for us in the next few years for sure

So basically sounds like a disaster on this team...

Love of football is kind of intangible.

LOL. Many of the folks that are dumping all over Allen will be, two years from now, probably singing the praises of the team that drafts him like some are now doing with Wentz and Goff. But that doesn't stop there, they will be glorifying all the choice picks we did not make as sound and profound drafting by other teams. Hind sight is 20-20.
I'm going with my gut, Darnold, then Allen and after that I'm tossed between Rosen/Mayfield. The more I read about the intangibles the more I want to make sure the one we pick has the best chance to be on the field for a long, long time. Don't care if we have to keep him in the shadows for a year or so. Rosen has what it takes for sure but has perhaps the biggest history of missing the big games with injuries.

I'll resign myself to hoping he turns into something great when he is drafted, but the dude better then into Superman in a couple of years or he's a waste of valuable resources by a dumb team.

Rex always bigged his players up, he was loyal to them. It's one of the things I liked about him.

His liking of Allen is unrelated, imho.

Personally, as long as our pick is our FQB for the next 10-15 years, i don't give a fuck who it is!

I don't follow College football closely enough to have an opinion on who our best hope is, i just hope (oh hell do I hope) that we get it right.

I wasn't an Allen hater like many but Rex doesn't know QBs from his ass so if he thinks Allen is best then I want someone else. cheers.

I dont think the Jets have any interest in Mayfield. I think they know Darnold is going #1 or #2 and the selection is between Allen and Rosen.

Both Allen and Mayfield are incredibly flawed prospects to selected third overall, but to me Allen is the one of the two who has the talent to live up to that draft position. Mayfield to me will be Case Keenum/Chase Daniel type with the upside of a healthy Teddy Bridgewater.

Is it SOJ to point out that Green Kryptonite is the most common form of the Kryptonite crystals found on earth.

In a candy draft, I'd be tempted to reach for Bit o' Honey in the first round, but my experts would tell me I could wait until the middle rounds and still get Bit o' Honey. They'd better fucking be right or heads are gonna roll.

For what it's worth, I loved Wentz and wanted him the year he was drafted (over Goff), and I loved Mahomes and wanted him last year (over Watson).

In the case of both those guys, they had a minimum acceptable completion percentage entering the NFL. A high completion percentage is not a good predictor of NFL success, but a low completion percentage IS a good predictor of failure in the NFL. For context, here is the completion percentage differential between college and pro players for every QB drafted since 2014 that has played at least 6 games (players whose completion percentage has gone up have been bolded for ease of identification):

    Trubisky - College: 67.5, Pros: 59.4 (Diff: -8.1%)
    Watson - College: 67.4, Pros: 61.8 (Diff: -5.6%)
    Kizer - College: 60.7, Pros: 53.6 (Diff: -7.1%)
    Beathard - College: 58.1, Pros: 54.9 (Diff: -3.2%)
    Goff - College: 62.3, Pros: 59.8 (Diff: -2.5%)
    Wentz - College: 64.1, Pros: 61.5 (Diff: -2.6%)
    Brissett - College: 59.5, Pros: 59.2 (Diff: -0.3%)
    Kessler - College: 67.5, Pros: 63.8 (Diff: -3.7%)
    Prescott - College: 62.8, Pros: 65.2 (Diff: +2.4%)
    Winston - College: 66.0, Pros: 60.8 (Diff: -5.2%)
    Mariota - College: 66.8, Pros: 61.8 (Diff: -5.0%)
    Petty - College: 62.7, Pros: 53.1 (Diff: -9.6%)
    Hundley - College: 67.4, Pros: 59.5 (Diff: -7.9%)
    Siemian - College: 58.9, Pros: 59.3 (Diff: +0.4%)
    Bortles - College: 65.7, Pros: 59.1 (Diff: -6.6%)
    Manziel - College: 68.9, Pros: 57.0 (Diff: -11.9%)
    Bridgewater - College: 68.4, Pros: 64.7 (Diff: -3.7%)
    Carr - College: 66.7, Pros: 61.3 (Diff: -5.4%)
    Garoppolo - College: 62.3, Pros: 67.3 (Diff: +5.0%)
    Savage - College: 56.8, Pros: 57.5 (Diff: +0.7%)

    Mettenberger - College: 61.8, Pros: 60.3 (Diff: -1.5%)

Allen will be the lowest completion percentage to start at QB since the 2014 draft. Tom Savage is his next closest companion, and ironically his percentage has gone up a whopping 0.7% in his middling NFL career thus far.

Garoppolo and Prescott are the only QBs to enjoy a significant increase in their completion percentage since entering the NFL since 2014. In Prescott's case, he had an incredible rookie year; last year's completion percentage returned to his college normal. In Garoppolo's case, he got to sit on the bench for several years behind an NFL future hall of Famer, much as Rodgers got to do.

It is absolutely possible Allen's accuracy can be improved through high quality coaching. Jordan Palmer has made the case that he's fixed already. While that remains to be seen against live NFL competition, that sort of rise would very much be unusual in the context of recent history.

You're still talking about "numbers" of concussions like they're interceptions or something.

If people are talking about Rosen's concussions and not Mayfield's, there's a good reason for this. It's not an anti-Rosen conspiracy.
