You can't negotiate like that. That's how you crash and burn. We are not in any position to say "fuck you" to him and move on.

Who are we moving on to? Lol

It's all a business. Sometimes these things take time and sometimes they take more time than they should. Mac is doing this very smart though.

Sign Fitz to all that money for what? If Petty is the answer or someone in the draft, and they emerge, you're gonna have Fitz as the backup making all that money on the bench? Cut him with dead money also?

Wait it out and let his camp realize there is no other suitor willing to pay what he wants, which is exactly what's happening. Let him lower his price tag and trust he comes back to a team he has built great chemistry with. If not, then you move to plan B

Problem with that you may lose out on plan B also. I understand what your saying.

Anyone else starting to care less and less if Fitz resigns?

I'm sorry but the guy is being offered a good amount of money that will keep him financially sound for the remainder of his life.

He has something really good with this team, yet, Fitz wants to let money get in the say of the big picture.

You do not give a 33 year old QB that kind of seeking price after one good year, especially when you look at his overall body of work. Be should be grateful he was given the opportunity he had last year, he should be happy he played as solid as he did and the offense played even better around him to give him the chance to make the money he is being offered.

For someone to shit on that, let pride get in the way, is disgusting to me.

I appreciate him trying his best to get more money but at this point, Mac clearly understood no team would value him at his seeking price and we weren't going to give him that kind of money just because he thinks he deserves it.

If he doesn't smarten up in the next few days, we should move right the fuck on, it's getting stupid at this point.

Of course he wants the Jets to move on from Fitz. That increases the chance that Geno starts again. Nothing would suit him more.

..and for those arguing that we don't have a better option, we have to pay him, what would be our best plan B? Type of argument.

Fitz was our plan B last year, so If Mac can pull that out, I'm confident he can do it again as well.

    Different situation. Different players.

Geno was the QB previously and was pure garbage that no one really cared for.

Fitz had a great year last year, won us a lot of games, and developed a great relationship with this team.

A much more difficult situation than the year prior with Geno

My first thought is that RGIII would be the best Plan B if he's willing to sign a reasonable (cheap) deal. OTOH if he's wanting $15 million per year, then that's out.

Kaepernick would be the next best option imo.

After that, it's name your poison, i.e., a choice between Geno/Petty and the following HOF-bound QBs (NOT! LOL):

    Scott Tolzien
    Matt Moore
    Josh Johnson
    Dan Orlovsky
    TJ Yates
    Matt Flynn
    Matt Cassell
    Tarvaris Jackson
    Bruce Gradkowski
    Charlie Whitehurst
    Josh Freeman
    Ryan Lindley
    Jimmy Clausen
    Brandon Wheeden
    Michael Vick

I would just roll with Geno at that point. He has more upside than any of those stiffs and would be cheaper.

    Here's my new theory-

Mac is lowballing Fitz because he feels he has an ace up his sleeve.

    And it ain't GeNo...

Interesting theory. What do you think that ace up his sleeve is?

If Fitz turned really down the Broncos offer its obvious the rest of the league isn't buying him as a first class starter. Wonder what $$$ amount he's asking for?

No sane businessman waits two weeks for a journeyman to sign, when that businessman just had RGIII in the building.
